Spies first to break 2008 Porsche 911 refresh spy photos-Rear view

Here is a surprise from Germanys sports car maker Porsche. Caught in hot-weather testing in the US southwest are two nearly undisguised prototypes of a restyled Porsche 997 coupe and convertible.

The prototypes have completely new headlamps with two lenses (current model has one) inside and a new front bumper. They also have new taillights of different shape and look and also a new rear bumper.

All this could mean that the 997 is about to get an early facelift despite the fact that the former 911 was changed into the new 997 only two years ago in 2004.

That is a possibility, now that Porsche owns some of VW, the two will probably work togather even more. VW already has direct injection (FSI) and Porsche might borrow it. The Spies did menion 20 extra hp, something that direct injectin can provide.

No one should be surprised by this story - model year 1999, 2000, 2001 - 996, then 2002, 2003, 2004 - facelifted 996: 2005, 2006, 2007 - 997, then model year 2008, 2009, 2010 facelifted 997... do you see the pattern folks? Porsche is very consistent, 3 yrs then facelift for last 3 yrs. The '08 model will also have satellite radio availability + 15 bhp increase.
