Next-Gen Subaru WRX to Get Turbo 2.0-Liter Targeting 270 hp
The next generation Subaru WRX will be offered with a turbocharged 2.0-liter flat-four engine that could deliver as high as 270hp, according to a Subaru of America spokesperson. This engine is a turbocharged variant of the FA20 engine that’s used in the newly released 2013 Subaru BRZ.

Wow, more power on the wrx and less on the base? Guess they know their markets, the base is looking for fuel economy, the wrx is performance!

I don't remember where I read the article but Subaru's plans are the differentiate the Impreza from the WRX & STi. Essentially what is going to happen is the Impreza coming up in 2012 won't have a WRX or STi version. The future WRX & STi's will most likely look the same as it's current offerings but swapping out the EJ25 for the new FA20's.

If the WRX gets 270hp, the STI must be getting a significant boost. I'd guess 340-350hp. If it doesn't get too fat it will make for one fun car to drive.
