Sporting a length of 197 inches (5,007 mm) and wheelbase of 116.8 inches (2,968 mm), the Gran Coupe is 4.4 inches (111 mm) longer than its
2-door coupe sibling. A significant part of this extra length has been used to enhance seating comfort for the rear passengers. The BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe is also 74.6 inches (1,894 mm) wide and stands 54.8 inches (1,392 mm) in height. For comparison purposes, the Gran Coupe is 4.0 inches (102mm) longer, 1.3 inches (34mm) wider and 2.8 inches (72mm) lower than the BMW 550i.

The BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe, in keeping with the tradition of the 6 Series Coupe, offers a unique combination of top-class sporting dynamics, stunning design, luxurious touring comfort and a 16.24 cu. ft (460-liter) DIN luggage compartment – now for four passengers. The BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe’s signature driving experience is complimented by a range of innovative driver assistance systems and BMW ConnectedDrive infotainment features. The new car therefore meets the highest expectations of driving pleasure and style in a large, premium 4-seat sports coupe.

Its unmistakable design language gives the new BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe an aura of athletic elegance. The long powerfully contoured hood, short front overhang and set-back passenger compartment team up with a
4.4 inch (111 mm) increase in body length over the 6 Series Coupe and a 4.5 inch (113 mm) longer wheelbase present a fresh take on the hallmark proportions of a BMW automobile. The Gran Coupe’s distinctive profile is dominated by its four-door, elegantly stretched roof line which flows smoothly into the rear end, is a similarly eye-catching and distinctive feature of the new model’s silhouette.

This 6-series Gran Coupe is nothing but beautiful. In my dreams, Cadillac will bring back the STS name in the form of a 4 door coupe (yea, I know the trend is watered down)...

(I just HAD to mention Cadillac of course)

Almost, but no cigar! Attractive, but no WOW factor. This is just a 6 series with 2 additional doors. BMW should/could have done a little more work on the exterior/interior to differentiate the Gran Coupe IMO.

Monopoly and segnorato: I agree with both, the cars is just different parts of the 6 series , but what I do not like is the rear proportions, rear overhang too long and the line of the roof, the original prototype was by far better design. I might be wrong but I think it wont sale as much as the CLS (which does not looks like an E or CL coupe). I know that a lot BMW fans won't see that but this car (in design) does not have new inspiration, is jut a 6 with 2 extra doors and elongated body. Simple, nothing new. What they can say IF they do not want accept the true is that the 6 is a great design to copy , that's all. In design it lacks of inspiration....IMO even the A7 looks more attractive. Inside the doors and Control Panel are nice but central console and seats , no go. In the case on MB I would take the CLS63 over the E any day. In this case the I prefer the M5 over the coupe even dressed on M pack. I was expecting a lot more in design, they can do better that this simple car and the M5 is the evidence.

@Yonder

Great commentary! My thoughts exactly(except personally I'm not a fan of of the A7)!

i like this car but dont think its a game changer at all, i guess it will be cross shopped with the a7 and cls, but i have to admit, the A7 and cls both look better than this .. (this car has a nicer interior though )

the saddest thing to me about this car is that i think this is what the 5 series could/should have looked like and if bmw wanted a 4 door coupe they should have just built the CS concept.

Looks very nice. The design looks better as a sedan than coupe. Surely will dent CLS and Panamera sales. BMW is pumping new models at full speed.
In few months BMW have unveiled new 1 series, M5, new 3 series, now 6 Gran coupe. Great job BMW.

I think it's beautiful, although big and probably too expensive. Maybe a 4-series Gran Coupe (coming in 2 years I believe) will be more reasonably sized and priced.

The styling of the Gran Coupe 4dr makes more sense to me then the 2 door coupe. The 2dr to me looks too big and ungainly. This 4dr looks more balanced to me. I also think the 2 tone leather contrast in this photos are just luscious. The interior really gels for me. Well done BMW.To me this is the prettiest BMW in a long time for a sedan.

@mini22

Agreed! The Gran Coupe should have been produced as a one-off, exclusive within the BMW lineup. Seeing basically the exact same design language from the 6 series takes away some of the pizazz factor. And the interior is no doubt beautiful, however the images shown are somewhat a tease(at least for North American consumers)as the BMW Individual option program which offers special leather(s)and unique exterior/interior color choices are very limited in the U.S. market.

BMW should have make it look like the beautiful GC concept car, that would have been a home run.

Very good looking car. MB CLS has too much body work, " look at me" going for it. BMW, please make the 8 series sedan. That show car was beautiful and big.

This is a beautiful car, but I'd still rather own a Dinan M3.
