Acura Attempting To Reinvent Itself At Detroit Auto Show With Three New Models

Honda's Acura luxury brand will unveil an unprecedented three new vehicles -- including the long-awaited successor to its legendary NSX exotic sports car -- on Jan. 9 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Acura also will reveal its new ILX compact sport sedan and the 2013 model of its RDX crossover SUV at the show. The three vehicles will be vital as the struggling brand tries to generate excitement.

Acura has never introduced so many vehicles at once. Production versions of the ILX and the RDX are expected to go on sale next year, and the new NSX could be on the road in three years.

Sorry this is not a Luxury brand. Honda needs to cancel Acura.

Right. Not a luxury brand because they don't weigh 5,000 lbs.+ like the luxurious BMW's.

If the NSX doesn't have a drop-dead gorgeous interior and/or doesn't outperform the Nissan GT-R, is it fair to say it is an abject failure? Bearing in mind that a) Acura is a luxury brand where Nissan is not
b) The NSX is a 2 seater coupe (if it's prior models are any indication) whereas the Nissan theoretically seats 4
and
c)The NSX has hypothetically been in the incubator for much longer than ol' Godzilla.
Your thoughts?

Two 300hp electric motors, a tiny Honda generator, and a curb weight of 3000lbs, a lithium phosphate battery supplemented by a set of super capacitors to boost available launch torque would yield a suitable NSX. It would highlight Honda's continual commitment to being green, their domination of the small engine/generator marketplace, and show that they are serious at bringing life back into their products.

Chance of anything close to this happening 0.5% lol

S2000 and efficient? lol, with its 237hp, 2800lbs, and a 24mpg hwy? lol

I'd rather have a 505hp Z06 Corvette with similar "efficiency"

Apparently pickups can corner harder then this car and have over twice as much power, over three times as much torque, and get equivalent fuel economy lol.

lol, you equate hp/L and efficiency? bahahahahahahaha. You are freaking hilarious badgewhore. All high hp/L ratios can hint and are low reliabilty, high wear/maintenance rates, and shitty fuel economies. Name one high hp/liter vehicle that gets decent fuel economy compared to its competition? For every one you can name, I'll name 10 that don't!

lol angryinch and his several accounts also believe hp/L is the best way to measure engine efficiency. Does this mean you think the prius has a horrible engine efficiency? lol

Can you please provide a link to me saying anything about emissions equipment not doing anything? Since you can't, it's simply because you're making stuff up :)

There's already an NSX that HONDA would've done several years ago.... it's called LFA(woops). Between that and GT-R, NSX needs to find a different approach.

Good thing is, even if not as fast as those 2, it can still be faster(in a general term) than all of AUDI, BMW, and Merceds, and be something the latter 3 to look up to. :)

If you're supporting badgewhore, then you must agree with him.

Acura dropped names and replaced them with letters (RDX, MDX etc).

That destroyed model recognition. It was D.U.M.B.
