Is Lexus Finally Turning the Heat Up? Future Design Concept To Debut At Detroit Auto Show
A new direction?  Yep ,we have heard that before, and typically it is limited to just a rehash of the same old models with a slightly new refresh.  In fact, most of these concepts were never destined to see the light of day.  But those were the days when the public happily shelled out the cash for warmed over technology and Lexus was on top of the world.

but now, reeling in the aftermath of a series of natural and man made disasters, Lexus may have decided to break out the big guns and take on the far more aggressive competition head on with an entirely new concept for the Detroit auto Show. Take a look at the purposefully vague release and teaser and let us know what you think.

Is Lexus finally turning the page with a truly new direction?

Press Release:

Lexus will unveil a new concept vehicle at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 9, 2012. Designed by Calty, the company’s design studio in Newport Beach, Calif., the concept showcases the new design direction embraced by Lexus.

So... it's going to be a LFA killer? What's this one going to cost? A full million?

Wow!

that's strange, isn't that lexus a grand tourer? or are you all of a sudden willing to compare it to vehicles like the murc, f458 and mp4-12c?

The LF-A that they set the ring time with wasn't street legal. And I'm willing to bet that the Lambo Aventador will beat it as well as the MP4-16. As much as you would love that this to be true, the LF-A isn't the number one perfomance car. A Porshce 911 Turbo is quicker than the LF-A.

nah...their concepts are always far more exciting than the actual cars. witness the boring new GS with the same engine as the 2006 IS350. woohoo.

Because corporate Japan is by nature conservative, or risk-averse if you like.
