RENDERED SPECULATION: Coming To An Auto Show Near You - Lamborghini's LP700-4 "Aventador" Roadster

RENDERED SPECULATION: Coming To An Auto Show Near You - Lamborghini's LP700-4
The Lamborghini LP700-4 "Aventador" is really a special piece of kit. We feel so strongly about it that we think it's one of the greatest looking sports car of its time.

So, how do you make it better? You cut off the top.

According to our friends at Teamspeed, that's precisely what Lambo has done -- as it usually does.

Until we see a "leak" or the debut at the auto show, we'll just have to let our minds run wild; however, we think this rendering down below is onto something...

So the car is ready for production. One of my contacts saw the factory pics of Roadster, but he didn't tell me about color of the car pictured, only that it's ready for production. The presentation timeline only depends on how Lamborghini wants to get this car on the market. His opinion was that car is simply stunning, even better then renderings we have seen to date.

My contact tried to find out about the actual roof construction, but the only answer he received was that the retractable roof solution is much better than one used on Murcielago Roadster.

We hope to get more info and pics soon and for Geneva 2012 debut.

A roadster Aventador is all well and good, but where's the stick?

Unfortunately, it seems everyone's lost that whole concept.

Pretty foolish that everyone's missing the purity of driving just so they can pretend they're F1 racers.

Silly, really.

I'll take a stick over any slush box, dct removes most of the drawbacks, but many of them still have an "automatic" mode that searches for the gear in everyday driving scenarios. I know exactly what gear I want to be in, and it is sad to have to wait for a computer to figure out which one I want (if it can).

@Badge

That has to be the stupidest argument ever.

While there are plenty of good reasons to use a dual-clutch, sequential or "flappy paddle" gearbox on the track during a race, it doesn't make the experience profoundly better for street driving or for a "Sunday driver" -- most folks don't go to the track, remember?

The reality is if you want to have fun and be engaged, you buy a standard gearbox. If you're lazy, can't drive a manual well and want to pretend you're Michael Schumacher, you buy the race-inspired transmission.

And race cars are using the technology simply because racers only care about winning -- the experience or purity has nothing to do with racing since its a competition for $$$. Since DCT/SMG/F1-inspired trannys shift faster, they get the racer's vote.

"...preferring to shift a manual over todays auto is the equivalent of self servicing urself instead of having a hot chick do it."

I consider it the equivalent of preferring to put food in one's mouth all by himself rather than with the assistance of a conveyor belt.

You also complain about unrefined manuals, so clearly you've never driven a CVT before.

And, please: "smooth luxury comfort"? Your car should be a place to enjoy the thrill of driving, not one in which to watch the scenery drift by peacefully.
