GM Halts Cruze Assembly After Substandard Part Raises Quality Concerns

General Motors has identified the supplier responsible for the automaker's decision to halt production of the Chevrolet Cruze on Monday at its Lordstown, Ohio, assembly plant and is working to resolve the issue quickly.

GM spokespeople declined to identify the supplier or the material that caused the shutdown, which ended production by about 4,500 workers at both the Cruze assembly plant and a neighboring metal stamping plant.

Mock told the Youngstown Vindicator that the problem relates to "material provided by a supplier ... that could impact customer satisfaction with our products."

Would Toyota do this? Oh wait no, they continued pumping in faulty pedal assemblies even though they weren't up to Toyota's standards apparently lol.

Tsk, tsk, Joe! What you introduced there was the "Red Herring" concept!! Effective, but never fair!! :)

So... I proved the red herring point doesn't make sense now all you have left is calling me a troll? lol

Let's get this out of troll zone and insert some meaningful conversation shall we? Can you tell me why Toyota decided to install pedals that weren't up to their standards? Is it cost savings? Is it a lacking quality control check? I'm interested, why would they do it?

Btw, how many of your several accounts have you deboosted me with so far angryinch? last time I looked you had six or seven... which is how deboosted my first comment is lol.

Listen Joe_Limon, you are obviously very ignorant. You know that Toyota vehicles are FAR SUPERIOR to GM's vehicles, and that makes you feel very uneasy. So you are redirecting this article to Toyota because it makes you feel better. Deep down you know that yes, Toyota vehicles are better than GM's. GM has never made a vehicle that is as reliable and dependable as Toyota vehicles. Even with all the recalls Toyota has had, the Camry is still the number one selling vehicle, outselling, no, actually humbling and humiliating the Chevy Malibu and all the rest of the GM models trying to compete with the Camry.

This article is good news, it's not a recall, it's GM not allowing shitty product to be made. I was contrasting to show the difference between the two :)

also, Mooky, have you been hiding under a rock lately? Toyota's reliability was based upon hiding numerous recalls affecting tens of millions of vehicles and discrediting their own customers when things did brake on their vehicles.

Is it wrong to talk about the veyron in an SSC article? Or the mustang in a Camaro article to compare and contrast the points? Or is it considered trolling if the points bruise peoples egos?

wow, I get your point you think I'm a troll because I hold a point of view that apparently offends your own. You don't need to repeat yourself 5 times lol.

Do you realize that you haven't added nothing to this article other then name calling? Doesn't that make you a bit of a hypocrite?

I would give you a +100 if I could. So funny how the unintended acceleration suddenly disappeared as quickly as it re-appeared.

So what part is subpar? what is the part they are having an issue with? Good for GM for taking steps like this. This is what they need to be doing.
