Drop-Tops Square Up: Mercedes-Benz SL vs. BMW 6-Series vs. Maserati GranCabrio vs. Jaguar XK

Drop-Tops Square Up: Mercedes-Benz SL vs. BMW 6-Series vs. Maserati GranCabrio vs. Jaguar XK
Just yesterday, Mercedes-Benz made an exciting announcement.

Much like the BMW M5 and Porsche 911, the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class has been awaiting its all-new and improved generation. Finally, it's been unveiled and its full specifications have been divulged.

That said, we're a little curious how stacks up against the competition. We're not talking about on paper, technologically speaking or any other philosophical debate either.

We want to know what YOU, the Spies, think.

Since we know that AutoSpies readers have the finest taste and straightforward opinions, we want to know if you'd pick the all-new SL over the 2012 BMW 6-Series, Maserati GranCabrio, or Jaguar XK.

Let us know in the comments down below.

WHICH luxury drop-top would you want in your driveway?

I still prefer the Maserati over the new generation Germans and the new XK

Refreshed 2012 XK should be in the picture for better comparison.
Design of the Maserati(and Aston Vantage) is gorgeous and my favorite in the class but the smarter and popular(sales wise) choices will be the Germans.

Well, if we're talking just basic cars give me the SL.

But, I think after seeing the M6 last week, I'd go for that if it were AMG vs. M.

Play, why did you pick that order?

Find the Germans too cold/off putting?

Jag looks great outside, inside is outdated (way out of date tech, and I've never thought it was that nice inside). Maserati looks great inside and out, apparently drives like shit (I haven't driven one, this is based on reviews), but definite emotional appeal. SL, Benz just screwed the pooch on the looks of this car. It was one of my favorites, hate the look of the new one. But I'm sure the engine and drive are great, and the interior looks top notch. That leaves the 6er, which I have seen and driven and there's not a single bad thing I have to say about that car. Looks great inside and our, all the latest and greatest toys, fantastic drivetrain, and drives great as well. So I'd pick the 6er, then the Maserati, then the SL, then the Jag.

I'd take 6 over the GranCabrio anyday. Love the Maserati's sound and looks, but it's also $30-50k more than the new 6, depending on how you option it. That's a huge gap.

I hate the SL front lights but I hate soft roof too so I still prefer the SL, which I still consider the King in the category.

Cost no object? Maser for the sound and looks. So yummy classy with the best leather interior of the group.
