STUD or DUD: If THIS Is The Next-Gen Porsche Boxster's Interior, Are YOU Feeling It?
Though we've been seeing A LOT of the next-generation Porsche Boxster recently, no one has been showing off its interior. That's until now, that is.

From the exterior, it's clear that the new Boxster will remain largely the same. Sure, it's dimensions grow but what about it's interior?

Taking a big page from the Panamera, Cayenne and all-new 911, the upcoming Boxster benefits from a much more refined cabin. To be quite honest, at first glance there isn't anything to really set it apart from the 911 aside from the different looking HVAC vents.

That said, how does this new interior space score with you? Is it a STUD or a DUD?

This is the first picture of the new Porsche Boxster's interior – and as you can see the entry-level roadster is following the Panamera and latest 911 upmarket with a dramatic new cabin.

It features an extended transmission tunnel with a bank of switches located behind the gearlever, which control the electric folding roof and other features such as the PASM active dampers. On top of the facia is a new analogue clock with is set between a pair of air vents....

It's a Boxster. It's a Porsche. It's a stud.

I do believe that this will be a worthy successor to the current Boxster.
This particular interior is too red - it needs some more offsetting, contrasting trim, and I'm sure that there will be other interior colour choices.

Wow, what kind of person buys a Porsche for the interior?

That's like buying a Formula One car and complaining about the "cheap interior" and "lack of cup holders".

Lots of people consider Porsche to be a "luxury" sports car. I lost that impression when I found out all 911's have carpet rear seats.

All this dashstroaking is just beyond insane.

I drive a 2007 BMW 118i, I see the interior everyday and I don't give a damn about how the plastics feel or look. The car brings me from A to B in a safe and reliable way. Period.

Stud - because it's not the big screen and popcorn viewing size as in the new Lexus GS (who designed their ugly interior). They did a very nice job on the Porsche interior.

You can't make it any uglier than this. Holy crap. what were they thinking?

This is the worst thing I have ever seen. What's with all the red? Go tan interior if you must (honestly I'm a black on black guy) but still there should be some wood trim somewhere - they should make the interior somewhat like the interior of the SC430 (that interior was fantastic)

Wood trim would seem completely out of place on a sports car like the Boxster. It belongs in luxury sedans.

First of all, in this article they refer to the "transmission tunnel" which is completely wrong for the car engine and transmission layout. It should be called the center console instead.
There's a say in Porsche, that not two cars even being the same model are the same, for the amounts of different options offered by their exclusive and equipment departments, which can personalize from the interior to the exterior, with colors to sample that might be selected during the unit ordering process to the factory.
Whenever a new model comes out from Porsche, in most of the cases, if not in all, what they send to all their markets are pre-configured cars with no option for the dealer or importer to customize the units, until some specific time has passed for the newly launched model.
In no way we can say that this is ugly, this is just an option they offer to fill specific needs or taste.
Their ability to give their customers what they want, is what separates Porsche from the rest of sports cars manufacturers.

The monotone red is a bit oppressive.Obviously Porsche will have various colors and colr combinations to add contrast. The new Porsche interiors offer a more corporate look. It's certainly not exotic but if I imagine a bit more the basic shape looks better here in a Boxster then 911. But right now I'm not feeling it as a sports car.

Dud for the "gold chain" crowd. Looks like they can join the elite Corvette Gold Chain Club. Don't forget to drape that sweater over your shoulders as you "prance" around at the meets.
