Chrysler Takes A Shot At The Luxury Market With The $40,000 300 Series - Will It Work?
The 2012 Chrysler 300 Luxury Series was introduced on Tuesday, starting at $40,145 and slotting in just below the top-of-the-line Chrysler 300 SRT8. Chrysler describes the car, which goes on sale in the first quarter of 2012, as "the trophy for the tireless majority."

The price includes an $825 destination charge.

Chrysler says the Chrysler 300 and 300C Luxury Series sedans are the "most highly appointed sedans the brand has ever offered." Chrysler says the special models are the first domestic sedans to get an eight-speed automatic transmission. The base model gets a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine while the 300C Luxury Series gets the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine.

Only idiots would pay this much for garbage. The top of the line of this car should be priced at $20k max!!

Because you can get RWD, 300 hp V6 or V8 power with an 8 speed gearbox for 20,000. The Genesis sedan is the closest competitor in price and it's not 20,000 at all.

@LACMAN

Most of these dumb losers are too busy pledging allegiance to their favorite automobile brands and are incapable of identifying a excellent car even it were to hit them.

The 300/Charger trumps any other RWD sedan in it's price range and beats many of similar over-hyped, higher priced counterparts in overall performance, features and amenities as well. Bravo to Fiat/Chrysler for producing a quality luxury/performance sedan at a reasonable price!

Add a painted black metal or gunmetal grill and the Lux Series version will be complete. Same for wheel/rim package as well. But I digress...

Squash the M-B chassis alteration argument. Just about every new luxury vehile on the road today is using an altered or re-engineered version of an old platform. Get over it. This Chrysler is both tough & elegant as the same time. It's large, but not old & awkward like previous Lincolns & Cadillacs. The big Chrysler is comfortable to drive & ride in as this major refresh seems to be good enough for the intended price-point.

We're still waiting for GM & Ford to show us why we shouldn't buy a Chrysler 300/C/SRT8. The Impala, MKS, and Taurus ain't there yet. The XTS will only be a stop-gap for a couple more years.

When the 300 series first debuted, there were plenty of people that were paying more than $40k for the V-8 powered 300 C once dealer markup was applied.

The Chrysler ads target the black gangsta drug population.

Chrysler can take this pimpmobile and keep it. Let the blacks have it.
