Major Fail - Chevrolet Recalls Sonic For MISSING Brake Pads

General Motors said on Friday that it is recalling more than 4,000 of its 2012 Chevrolet Sonic subcompact cars to check for missing brake pads.

The possibility that some Sonics could be missing an inner or outer brake pad was discovered during warranty service for a rental vehicle customer. GM said the problem "is expected to exist in very few cars," and there are no known crashes or injuries related to the issue. A missing pad could require longer stopping distance, and contribute to a crash.

If true it is very sad. However the noise from the caliper pushing against the rotor and the subsequent vibration will be crazy.Sounds fishy.

I honestly believe you don't own a car though. If you do, it's probably a snooze fest (Toyota Camry or similar). Your comments have proved you to have NO knowledge of the auto industry (or automobiles period) AT ALL and therefore I cannot picture you behind the wheel of any of the exciting german offerings.

On the contrary, even though i often disagree with Blazinboy, i think he is quite knowledgeable on the topic of Automobiles.

I'm surprised that those highly skilled UAW line-men didn't catch this issue. Or those value-added UAW Quality Assurance folks. Strange. Very strange indeed!

Hey Lacman, you call the Camry a snooze fest, that is exactly what Chevys are. The Camry V6 blows the doors off the beloved Chevy Malibu in a drag race as well in the quarter mile. The Malibu takes the prize in the snooze fest. Camry does 0-60 in 5.8 seconds, Malubu in 6.3 seconds. So much for your "Expertise" in exciting vehicles.

Blazinboy does have some knowledege, but he is biased by the only car's he ever owned,BMW. BMW has some great cars in terms of performance handling and overall dynamics, but still lacks in electronics reliability and the value is gone. Due to expensive labor they are overpriced.
