Fiat To Take On Mni Countryman With Super-Mini MPV
The Fiat 500 range is growing. Auto Express has learned the company will reveal a new small people carrier at March’s Geneva Motor Show, and that the car will go on sale shortly after, priced from around £13,000.

Based on a modified platform from the new Panda, the supermini-MPV will be the first new addition to the 500 family. It will translate the cheeky city car’s looks and charm to a larger, more practical vehicle, as the Countryman does to the standard MINI.

It's a model that Fiat sorely needs in the USA. It is based on the Panda which has gotten very good reviews. Fiat needs to get a little more power out of it's N/A base 1.4 engine though. At 101 HP and 99LBS of torque it is huffing and puffing a bit too much. They need to get this up to a minimum of 115HP and 110LBS of torque.

It looks horrible, from the awkwardly styled front-end, through the A-pillars to the cobbled together Mini Clubman roof-line and FJ-Cruiser C-pillar.

Unless it drastically undercuts the Mini in price, the only thing this vehicle is going to do is send customers into another showroom.

It does vagly copy the glass house of the Countryman. However I think that Fiat actually came out with it first with their Panda. Then Mini copied it with the Countryman. As they say beaty is in the eye of the beholder.Thing is if it addresses the problem of room that has plague the 500 then it is going to have a lot more broad appeal.
