Toyota exec expects GM, Ford to rebound

Toyota Motor Corp.'s new North American president predicted General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. will recover from their current economic woes and "come back stronger than ever and be successful."

I heard that before, apparently Toyota is scared to death about the "backlash" if GM fails completely. It is getting annoying. They don't want their competitors to do well, whou would?

No one wants to be the Death of a such a huge institution. GM is a way of life for thousands of Americans. A bad PR situation if you are labeled the GM Slayer.

Even though GM is doing bad right now, they are not going to die. Most companies don't die anymore they get taken over (Renault-Nissan-GM?). Especially one that is as large as GM. I seriously don't believe that GM will face demise, yes there may be a chance that smaller GM brands (Saab, Pontiac, etc.) may be sold off or closed down to cut costs. But if it does happen Toyota should not be in the position to be blamed.
