Their problem is price. Consumers don't get bang for their buck.

Price is, and probably will continue to be, the problem with this brand. While I applaud the wealth of engine choices, we all know that the John Cooper Works Edition with the four cyclinder will probably come within mere dollars of a $30,000+ msrp.

What I want to know is: why is MINI spelled with all caps?

BMW is an acronym (Bavarian Motor Works). MINI is not.

Also: does the BMW chassis mean it will be rear-drive?

If it becomes rear wheel drive I will be in line to buy one. A car that small with about 250hp and rear wheel drive = fun!

I just looked it up - the new 1 series is rear-drive, so I guess the new MINI will be too! Holy handling Batman!

The 1 series out now and the coming 3 door and 2 series will have RWD, but all others 1 series like the mpv will have FWD.

The new MINI and the new front-wheel-drive 1 series share the same platform (not the RWD 1 series)

Wait, so the new 1er will be available with either FWD OR RWD?

The current new one is RWD. The next generation 1 series is FWD with probably optional AWD on some models.

The expression 'awesome Mini' is an oxymoron.

There is nothing awesome about a car that resembles a shoe box in shape and size.
