New Lexus SC to debut at Pebble Beach Concours

New Lexus SC to debut at Pebble Beach Concours
Dear 001,

Lexus sent me an email today with this info on the 2007 SC Pebble Beach edition - interestingly it did not mention the engine size, and was in the same email as the announcement of the 2007 GS350.

"The ultimate getaway destination deserves the ultimate escape vehicle. The 2007 Lexus SC Pebble Beach Edition. Offered in a unique color combination with exclusive badging, this SC special edition is available in a head-turning Starfire Pearl exterior and a unique Pimento Red leather interior. Finishing the limited edition package are two sets of black Lexus floor mats branded with a distinctive red Pebble Beach logo.",

They better, the current SC hardtop is very old and not very appealing. Does the GS get the Camry's engine?

I beleive that this is not a brand new car but the same/current design with new trim/color options.....similar what cadillac used to do in the 80's with their "Bill Blass" edition etc. etc.

Sort of, the GS will get a slightly differently tuned IS 350 engine. I just recieved a Lexus e-mail today saying that it will have 303 hp.

I said Camry's engine because I didn't think that they would give the GS350 the IS's direct injected engine with 306 hp. I thought they would give it the Camry/ES350 engine with 265-275 hp. I think they have a problem now that the V-6 has 303 hp and the V-8 has 300, unless they put in a newer and bigger V-8. The original GS300 245 hp V-6 was sort of weak.

I think the plan is to put a larger engine in the GS430 either for 2007 or 2008. Probably the same engine as in the new 2007 LS 460.

What all of this means is that for similar money the consumer will get much more powerful vehicles, whether in 6 or 8 cylinder form. Has to be good for competition!

The new 8 cylinder GS will most likely share the new LS engine. Expect it to produce around 380 hp. Should be called the GS460.

Do some research before you call someone a liar! Lexus does send out monthly emails called Lexus Pursuit. Here is the link: https://secure.lexus.com/lexus/jsp/pub-ssl/models/signup/index.jsp

You are right. This is the fourth year Lexus has done this with the SC. 04'Light Blue / Ecru Leather, 05' Diamond Black / Red Leather, 06' Tigereye Mica / Camel Leather. I just wish you could order these colors as a regular SC rather than buying a special edition
