Red Light Ticket Company Can't Deliver Ticket So Decides To Ruin Violator's Credit Instead?
A Tacoma, Washington police lieutenant filed a lawsuit against the city of Fife on December 23 after an undelivered red light camera ruined his credit rating. On New Year's Day in 2009, a red light camera belonging to Redflex Traffic Systems of Australia photographed Anthony J. Abuan's car as it made a right-hand turn on a red light at the intersection of 54th Avenue and 20th Street.

"The driver of the plaintiff's vehicle was not stopped by any law enforcement official on January 1, 2009, and the driver was not then aware that a traffic infraction had allegedly occurred," Abuan's attorney, Joseph M. Diaz, wrote in the complaint against Fife.

That's evil. Credit bureaus have the only database systems in the world where the operators are almost proud that they are storing and not fixing bad data.

Well the argument was made by a co-worker, that it is the driver's responsibility to keep the address current. If you fail to pay court fee or fines then they will ding your credit.

However this is a third party accusing you of a crime, and assumes guilt. Should they ding you simply on their word alone?

What is next? Should a camera at parking garage see you parked over the line in a parking spot. Issue a fine then fail to contact you about it and then ding your credit?

I am not a violent person with uncontrollable temper, however...

If they could find and lower his credit rating they could certainly find where he lives. This is absurd.
He should have the right to face his accuser... with an Uzi.
