Honda Edges Out Toyota For the Recall King Title In 2011

Automakers recalled about 15.5 million vehicles last year compared with 20 million in 2010, according to figures released on Friday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The figure was the fourth lowest in the last decade.

Honda and its Acura division led all manufacturers with 3.9 million vehicles recalled in 17 actions. The company has had several expansions of a recall for a driver’s side air bag that can inflate too powerfully. Honda has linked the defect to two deaths.

So strange how Domestics used to be the biggest recall kings now two companies you would have never expected took their place. When they were made in Japan they had nowhere near as many recalls. All the American cars are made in foreign countries and most of the japanese are mader her and now the tables have turned. Coincidence? Let Our lazy no work ethic having no pride in our product workers build something here and look what happens. No wonder the big 3 is building outside the u.s. It has certainly helped their reliability.

Wow, surprising... I heard, or thought I heard, about more recalls from Toyota products... Damn, Honda, you are in a whole lot of hot water if you ask me right now... I will now recommend friends and family to consider Hyundai over Honda and Toyota I suppose.

Another important criteria would be percentage since it depends how many cars they sold. For example GM sold the most cars in 2011 so you would expect them to have a higher amount of problems. However the Japanese brands sold less but had more recalls. They still get better marks for reliability.I dont get it.I guess recalls are not counted towards reliability ratings.Go figure that one out.

Thats because Americans make them now, and most American cars are built by foreigners with much better work ethics. If they start making all of the Hondas and Toyotas in Japan they will do much better, but, unfortunately, will cost more due to import taxes and shipping costs.
