DETROIT AUTO SHOW: Lincoln MKZ Concept Caught During Short Circuit
They call them concepts for a reason, and that it because sometimes they are not quite ready for prime time.

A case in point might be the new Lincoln MKZ Concept that debuted yesterday at the Detroit Auto Show.  It seems the that something went wrong as the Detroit Free Press cameras caught an ominous cloud of smoke billowing from the concept in an obvious short circuit.

Thankfully the smoking episode was short lived, and didn't escalate into something more severe, but it does make you wonder if it is a signal of things to come for the car that Lincoln is planning for their salvation.

Concept cars cost lots of money not because they are superior vehicles to regular production cars. But because they are generally one off or have very production cycles. For example, forming a sheet metal piece is easy in mass, stamp and go, but forming just one, you have to CNC mill the stamping mold or form the sheet by hand.
