Hyundai Scores A Jump On The Competition By Meeting 2016 Cafe Requirements 4 Years Early
The Hyundai brand achieved 36 mpg (6.5 L/100 km) corporate average fuel economy in 2011, four years ahead of the U.S. government’s rule for 2016 when all auto makers are mandated to achieve roughly that fleet average in the U.S.

Hyundai America CEO John Krafcik tells WardsAuto during an interview at the auto show here that the Environmental Protection Agency’s estimated fuel economy of the Elantra compact sedan is achievable in the real world, despite owners who are suggesting otherwise.

Hmmm... combined cycle EPA fuel economy ratings for Hyundai vehicles.

Accent=33 or 34mpg
Azera=22 or 23mpg
Elantra=33mpg
Elantra Touring=26mpg
Equus=18mpg
Genesis=20 or 22mpg
Genesis Coupe=24, 23 or 20mpg
Genesis R-Spec=19mpg
Santa Fe 2WD=23 or 21mpg
Santa Fe 4WD=22mpg
Sonata= 28 or 26mpg
Tucson 2WD= 23, 24, 25, or 26mpg
Tucson 4WD= 22 or 23mpg
Veloster= 32mpg
Veracruz 2WD= 19mpg
Veracruz 4WD= 18mpg

None of the vehicles they make get 36mpg so how can their average among of their vehicles be 36mpg? CAFE has so many loopholes in it.

Lets see... their over inflated EPA average (using 2011 sales), is 27mpg. So if CAFE is rating these vehicles 33% higher then EPA, that means the 2025 54mpg CAFE restrictions is really more like 41mpg. lol
