Can A Car Or Brand Attract The Wrong Crowd?

Can A Car Or Brand Attract The Wrong Crowd?
It only takes one bad apple to ruin the whole barrel, or so they say. But do some barrels attract more of the bad ones?

Today on the way to work I merged on to the relatively open highway at 6:00AM, and was immediately cut off by an aggressive driver in a tricked out WRX. Annoying? Yeah.  Dangerous? Of course.  But while that might have been rude, I live in Dallas, and down here everyone believes the highway is their personal nurburgring race track.

You just simply learn to turn the cheek and ignore their stupidity.

But the rest of journey into downtown was spent watching this driver weave in and out of traffic and then slowing to 5 mph below the speed limit only to dive back into the mix like a Stuka dive bomber. It made me think. Over 10 odd miles he never made any substantial progress.

I have to admit I have been seeing a lot of these boy racers and their pocket rockets lately, and they always seem to be  either A WRX or an EVO attempting to prove their self worth at the peril of the general populous.

So now I ask, Is it just me, or do some brands simply attract those out to prove something?  Do some cars attract a certain following that brands them as a bad apple.

If so what brands and what type of people do they attract?  Give me your best!

Mitsubishi Evo and Eclipses, Subaru WRX's, Honda Civics, BMW 3-series, Nissan 350 and 370z, Honda S2000, they all attract ricers.

I would add Hyundai to this list.

I nearly get run off the road by Mercedes and Lexus drivers that can not seemed to be bothered to check the adjoining lane before their merge. So, I guess the answer to your question is yes.

Sorry for the errors. Everyday I am nearly run off the road . . . before they attempt to merge into my lane via my rear driver side and passenger side rear doors."

Ahh

But the Merc or Lexus driver does not wish to run you off the road, in fact im sure they would be appalled if they found out about their near-miss, it's just that they expected the "Blind Spot Warning System" or " Lane Assist System" or a myriad of other tech to tell them you were there when they attempted to change lanes.

Silly WRX or EVO drivers on the other hand just don't care if they run you off the road...... I mean, how could any caring member of the Human Species install in or purchase a vehicle with loud bore Exhaust systems with astonishing DB levels ?

P.S. Murcielago, Aventador, 599 GTO, Carrera Gt and others in this category of Vehicles do not count, The sound they produce is music to the ears of any Hot Blooded Creature.

Idiots driving caprices, crown vics, late model impalas or monte carlos with the retarded stupin jacked up suspensions to make room for ginormous idiotic rims because they are too stupid to have class and instead have to over do everything to show off because thats the only way they can feel good about themselves. They drive extremely slow off the line because the rims are too heavy to get it going and they have to make a three point left turn because they can't turn their wheels enough to make a simple turn without their tires rubbing.

Why are you talking about your self in the 3rd person?

My thoughts exactly. To a manufacturer, there is no "wrong" crowd, doesn't matter if the potential consumer is a pimp, model, athlete, rapper, ricer or any other colorful metaphor you guys can think of.

Am I the only one who hates all these labels we give each other? Labels are easy, once you've labeled a person, you no longer have to think critically about their words or actions.

I still get most of my news from Autospies, but as an adult with a rational thought process, I think this should be your last "is x ruining y's image" topic. You and I both know, the manufacturers don't give a crap as long as they move a unit....

Hey now. I used to drive a WRX. It was a very fun car. I bought it because it was a very utilitarian vehicle that was indeed quite quick. No frills meant nothing to break, and the all wheel drive was extremely nice here in the Minnesota winters.

Oh, and the fact that a simple computer reflash made over 400 ft-lbs of torque was also quite fun.

Now. I'm considerably more reserved than the other 'kids' who drove the same vehicle. Considering the insurance rate of the GD- WRXs is INSANE (over $220 a month when my 2012 Camaro SS is $56) this is obviously a "high risk" car to an insurance company.
