Consumers Pick Best And Worst Brands - But Are They Even Close To Your Choices?

Tesla is one of the ten highest rated car brands in America, says the Consumer Reports 2012 Car-Brand Perception Survey. Is that a good thing? Marketers are troubled by this development. The trouble is not that a newcomer like Tesla is rated so highly.

Overall, the halos of the top brands are fading fast.

Toyota, Ford, Honda, and Chevrolet, perennial leaders in the survey, maintained their top positions but have seen the points gap decrease. Most of the top brands saw double-digit drops in their total scores. Which allows smaller companies to catch up.

seems wrong to me if MINI with the highest satisfied customers of any manufacturer *according to a recent JD Power study* is ranked so low, so not credible at all if you ask me

people who respond just to push the numbers up....let's face it, owners only give feedback if it's negative or if they love the brand and want to praise it. You would expect Toyota to be high because it's the one thing they get right: reliability and ergonomics. Ever seen the hvac controls on a camry? so simple, "dated" really, but people are use to it, so they embrace it. If you dont LOVE cars, why would you want change??

I have completed several jd power studies for my LR, just to try and give the brand SOME good reviews, although I happen to have had trouble free driving.
