Republicans Accuse NHTSA Of Cover Up In Volt Fire Risks
House Republicans accused the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Wednesday of trying to keep secret a battery fire in a Chevy Volt out of fear of damaging the value of the government’s investment in the car’s manufacturer, General Motors, and jeopardizing President Obama’s re-election prospects.

At a hearing of a House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee, members released a staff report that argued that the administration’s bailout of General Motors created business and political reasons for the government to sacrifice public safety.

Did you know that historically, the Pinto caused fewer actual deaths then all of its competition?

Nice example though, it shows how media isn't very good at giving a clear and unbiased opinion.

" If Obama loses in NOV...he will be the next CEO of GM. You heard it here first."

- I like the way you said "If". LOL!! Smarting up already. Because you know the GOP candidates are pathetic. Next CEO of GM? No big deal, He'll be joining all the Republican ex Politicians that went to work for corporations that owned them while they were in office.

NoMoreObama2012, You are a fool as well as anyone who gives your posts a positive boost. Notice how you don't even reply to anyone. reason? You are a shill that's only capable of repeating the bumper sticker crap that you get from the far right wackos. Your dumbass is incapable of having a back-and-forth with anyone. Wake me up when you grow a pair.

Also the Rutger's law review has statisical data that show the Pinto was dead-average (pardon the pun) in regard to vehicle fires after a collision.

I'm sure there were no politics involved in that affair 40-years ago, when it was fashionable for DEMOCRATS (and hippies) to attack profitable, "establishment" companies.

Do you even know what an ambulance chasing lawyer is? The Schwartz paper would discredit ambulance chasing lawyers.

It seems they were eager to close the books on the fire investigation, while having dragged NASA into the Toyota investigation. Now dealers don't even want the Volt.

The Volt hasn't killed anyone (yet), Toyota's vehicles and their corner cutting did.

Don't get me started on the dealers as IMO they bear as much responsibility for the slow Volt sales as anything else. Lots of incompetence and malice is out there.

Actually the pedal issues were traced to the supplier not the original design. Units made in Japan with the same design were unaffected.

People don't buy cars from Toyota's suppliers, they buy cars from Toyota who bear responsibility for the design and execution quality and safety.
It was a design flaw or penny-pinching not to have throttle override, something that Nissan had done for years, or a quick and simple way to kill the engine.
It was also a design flaw and dealership negligence to have the floor mats slide under the pedals and get them stuck. I witnessed that first hand on an elderly friend's brand new Prius.

The Republicans are correct. They are always correct 100% of the time. Why even question them? They were right about the "Weapons of Mass Destruction" among other things. We need the GOP. Hedge Fund Managers and CEO's are going through rough times.

Obama has been the president for 3 years now. Aren't we supposed to all be living in refrigerator boxes by now?

And you're not fooling anyone Angryinch1. We all know its you. That fact that you're taking on multiple screen names tells everyone here that you're a freaking phsycho. Enjoy your warped mind.

NoMoreObama2012,

How is your "freedom" being compromised? Are you any less "Free" than you were 3 years ago? You allow your right wing wackos to scare you into believing in threats that don't exist. LOL!! Like the "death camps". Get a clue and free your mind. It's obvious that you are incapable of independent thought.

This post is pointless! Politicians will always blame the other party, especially in an election year.

Politics as usual. If people think Obama is any different than a Republican president, you're blind to the current realities of U.S. government - it DOES NOT MATTER who your president is, they will be heavily influenced by big business and everything they do will favor them over the middle class. Yes, I know Obama's rhetoric is all about the middle class, but everything he's done has been pro business. The Health Care Reform Law? Will make insurance companies trillions because it REQUIRES everybody to buy insurance or else - wha???

Disgusted with bipartisan politics because now it no longer feels like there is even a difference between the two, they are both pro-business. Keep this in mind, there are only TWO factors in influencing the decisions of most high profile political positions:
1. Is this in the best interest of big business?
2. Is this in the best interest of a Union?

You will never see a policy that benefits the people at a cost to both big business/unions.

I do admit I have a Toyota chip on my shoulder. It's more like a giant rock actually. However the more important thing is how it got there, and trust me Toyota does have something to do with it.

Perceived value is everything. Malibus have always been PoS. Why didn't you get a Sonata or an Altima or a Fusion? I rented a CTS Coupe V6 in Dallas last September after haggling with the rental agent for about 10 minutes and had a blast. Guess my expectations were not very high.
