GM President Says Bad Press
The day after a congressional hearing into a fire in crash-tested Chevrolet Volt, General Motors Co. acknowledged that sales of the car had been hurt by bad publicity.

And as the carmaker stepped up its efforts to rebuild the reputation of the Volt, it began airing a commercial titled "Morning in Hamtramck" that portrays the extended-range electric car as part of the fabric of the Detroit enclave in which it is built.

Asked Thursday if Volt sales have taken a hit in January, General Motors North America President Mark Reuss said, "Oh, yes."

True, but the JD Power avoidance study indicates most people didn't buy the Volt was because of price... Well Duh!

I guess he kinda avoid that one.

The press has only stated the dangers and the results of owing a Volt. They have done nothing more than save more lives. The truth is the truth...

GM should consider adding a fire extinguisher for each airbag that comes with the vehicle... Or maybe even a sprinkler system...

I don't see how a fire extinguisher will help somebody in the event of an accident. Are they supposed to stand beside their vehicle for a month to see if their totaled car catches fire because they didn't disconnect/drain the batteries?

It wasn't selling to their expectations anyway...this just dropped the sales more.
