UAW Authorizes GM Workers To Strike

Workers at a General Motors assembly plant in Kansas have voted in favor of authorizing a strike.

UAW Local 31 President George Ruiz said 90% of members who voted were in favor of authorizing a strike while 10% were opposed in voting that took place Thursday.

A strike authorization vote is often taken to give the union more leverage in its negotiations with an automaker.

These UAW guys are turds. BTW: "NoMoreObama2012"; If you think that blowhard Newt Gingrich is the answer to the present economy problems, then your just as stupid as these UAW clowns. Old Gingrich, aka Mr. emblezzler, wife cheater, Fan Mae/Freddie Mac "consultant" - who took 1.6 million; plus none of his own party representatives even want to support him. They shun him even ruunning. Bob Dole even spoke out against this idiot. Before you bash the liberals, get someone to run (Ron Paul) who isn't a lifetime Washington insider (Newt) or it's politics as usual there. No - I'm not a Democrat or Republican (just an Independent that speaks the turth; more folks should speak up and oust ALL the Washington "lifers" regardless of their party affiliation.

Seriously, when will such thieves and criminals be arrested? When will the country be free of being run by thugs?

Since most of you seem too poor to "buy a clue", I'll give you one...free of charge. ???? You seriously don't know that a "strike vote" is NOTHING more than membership giving their leadership the AUTHORITY to negotiate in their collective behalf? Seriously? Have you really been so brainwashed by the functionally illiterate media that you can't understand that there is no point to having a collective bargaining unit IF you plan to tie their hands, telling them that they have no right to represent your interests in contract negotiations?

@ GrandmaBooBoo-You are only partially correct. Having had a (duma@@) brother who worked 32+ years at Ford Motor Company's plant in Sterling Heights, Mich., when an automaker decides to strike, the UAW members have already pre-determined WHICH plant it will be. The local UAW representatives have already discussed with the union members which factory will be dealt the big blow (strike). If the "demands" during the negotiations break down, aren't suitable to it's workers (majority vote wins), then they will determine the exact date to go out on strike. My beavis brother had 4 strikes at his plant in the duration of time he was there.

So "yes" it givies authority the right to negotiate on ALL UAW members behalf (pending their vote of course), but that doesn't change the fact that UAW members could still strike if their cause is not met. Let's not play symantics here. A strike is a strike (per my brother voice) if the talks break down or certain demands are not met for that plant and other local unions involved. One way or another your UAW kronies will disrupt the flow of things; just a bunch of old dinasours (No wonder southern states do NOT wish to endure this striking crap).

UAW brought up a clear message to all the US companies with manufacturing plants in overseas. "DO NOT BRING THE JOBS BACK."

Last year Steve Jobs had answered Obama why Apple would never bring the jobs back to USA. He mentioned not only the low labor coast, but also the other important factors. Apple guys were interviwed by NJ Times two weeks ago and confirmed Jobs' last year answers. Apple's answers were pretty insulting to the US workers, and I am not going to put it down here.

This lazy-ass president and these corrupt unions are an absolute joke. I can't think of a better job-killing combo.
