Infiniti Planning A GT-R Based Halo Car To Help Revive The Brand?
Calling the Nissan GT-R “too good a platform to use on only one model,” Infiniti’s head of advanced planning, Francois Bancon, let slip that the luxury brand is seriously considering a halo car built on the GT-R platform.

In an interview with Britain's CAR, Bancon admitted that Infiniti is considering “three or four” proposals for a range-topping vehicle, including at least one based on Nissan’s 542 horsepower, all-wheel drive supercar.

I think it's a great idea. Infiniti needs a halo car for publicity, and this would be it.

They should have made the GT-R the Halo car. Gonna be hard to beat the GT-R. It will end up heavier and slower. But at least it will have a nicer interior. LOL!!

I don't think the GT-R would have been suitable as a luxury halo car in terms of styling. It'll be interesting to see if they feel the Infiniti has to be the faster car or whether they think the luxury content and more exotic styling will justify the premium.

This will work only if Infiniti gets the interior/exterior styling aspects right and makes sure to differentiate their version from next generation GTR(R36)to justify the obvious increase in cost over the Nissan model.

works with the Nissan Z / Infiniti G coupe - should work here as well.

Essence design with GT-R platform would make a nice Supercar. They could also ditch the AWD for weight savings as well as will give customers more choice(RWD Infiniti, AWD Nissan) and also improve the interior design and materials.

Whatever. Infiniti has been "considering" a halo car for the last 5 or 6 years. I'm gonna save this article. In two or three years when autospies releases another Infiniti halo article, I'm gonna remind you guys about this article because it happens every two to three years.

Until I see a production model (not concept to generate buzz) with a release date, I won't believe any of it.

You just said that about the GT-R? The thing is one of the fastest-accelerating cars on the planet!

yes, and it should be targeted as an E-series AMG and M5 killer. this would take very little investment
