Oops! It Looks Like ONE Of Chevrolet's Super Bowl Ads Touched A Nerve At Ford
Man, there are some intriguing politics going on in Detroit these days.

According to a post on The Wall Street Journal's "Driver's Seat," General Motors' marketing big wig Joel Ewanick received a note from Ford today asking for GM to pull the ad.

The Silverado advert features the all-new pick-up truck driving through a completely destroyed city that littered with debris, UFOs and much more. The punchline takes a swipe at Ford, which must have upset their folks, hence the note.

Though the bit of marketing is clearly intended to be good humored, it seems that some are taking it a bit more serious.

Hell, this reminds me of Newt Gingrich asking Mitt Romney to stop the negative ad placements...

Take a look at the subject below...

The Wall Street Journal writes:

“Woke today with letter from Ford asking Chevy to pull 2012 Super Bowl ad. Really! We stand by our longest-lasting most dependable truck,” said GM marketing boss Joel Ewanick in an email today.

In an earlier statement Ewanick said the ad is “a fun way” of putting the company’s claims about the Silverado in the context of the apocalypse. The company said it won’t pull the commercial, which is set to run during the first quarter of today’s game.

“We can wait until the world ends, and if we need to, we will apologize,” Ewanick added.

There should be some laws that prohibits companies from false and misleading advertisements. Ford truck has been number 1 in sales for 30 years (fact), Ford's F150 is a top safety pick (GM's truck is not), so if there is more Fords on the road with over 250,000 miles than GM, then GM should explain their claims or stop misleading the public. Plus, true truck people knows that the present GM trucks are outclassed in every way by the new F150.

Best selling doesn't mean best trucks, and while there may be more fords with that kind of mileage, chevy sold less, so they could have less numbers wise, but percentage wise they might have more. If ford sold 100,000 and 50,000 were still on the road that would be 50%, but if Chevy sold 50,000 and 40,000 were still on the road, that means 10,000 less than ford, but would mean that 80% are still on the road. Sales arent everything. Look at how crappy the explorers were but they were the #1 selling and were the crappiest built SUV out.

"Why are posts like the above allowed on here?"

- Because the owners of this web site share the same beliefs.

Wouldn't doubt that this is a fictitious troll ID created as an extension of the Autospies marketing machine. The posts are so robotically uniform and predictable it hard to imagine they exist for any other reason than to garner lots of responses. Of course, it succeeds.

I'll buy the import built by working class americans and support them before I buy a foreign made American car to line the pockets of the rich CEO corporate thugs.

I think the ad crossed an unspoken line. Poor taste on GM's part.

Poor taste. It's funny people act like PRESIDENT Obama actually owns or holds shares in GM. He doesnt! Nobody complained when our former president lied and start not 1 but 2 wars. President Obama is trying to keep our country afloat and our businesses in business.

Like Congress would approve anything for Obama. Funny thing about it is that those wars are now over. They ended up being successful and lasted only a few months. No lives were lost. Vs the "Congressionally Approved" Bush War that's still going on ten + years later, and thousands of lives have been lost.

Obama did the right thing and showed Congress that you don’t have to occupy a country for 10+ years, and get thousands of soldiers killed to get something done (same thing he did with Bin Laden). But I see you are for the thousands of lives lost, occupy country solution. Enjoy!!

It is ironic that Ford is the American car company that "survived" the recession without Federal assistance while GM could not weather the storm without a bailout.

You would think that IF Chevy were to take a shot at Ford, the subject of the commercial would not be related to "surviving" something...

You do realize that corporations have had record profits the last 2 years under Obama? And that's what you call a "war on capitalism"? You need to turn off FOX News. It's clouding your mind with nonsense.

"class warfare"? Isn't that what the rich has been waging against the poor since the beginning of time? How is Obama insiting class warfare? By asking a hedge fund manager to pay the same effective tax rate as his secretary? I’m sure that the wealthy are glad that they have non wealthy folks like you fighting for their best interests and against your own best interests.

And I asked you this before. Can you please explain how Obama is turning the U.S.A into Cuba. Be specific.

As a Canadian, let me say that I find it sad to see America degenerating into a political civil war where each side almost appears gleeful at the prospect of the other side being able to wreck the country.
You're certainly making it easier for your real enemies..

Only one side wants to see the other side wreck the country. That way they will get re-elected.

Just like I thought. You don't have an answer. LOL!!! Next time try to involve actual facts in your discussion. Obama fighting against capitalism while corporations are the most profitable they’ve ever been. You see the contradiction? LOL!!! FOX news is turning you into a dummy? And learn how to use the "Reply to this commen"” link for Christ sakes. You are a piece of work.
