Clint Eastwood Pulls Halftime 'Statue Of Liberty' Play To Get Chrysler A Win In The Super Bowl Car Ad Competition

Clint Eastwood Pulls Halftime 'Statue Of Liberty' Play To Get Chrysler A Win In The Super Bowl Car Ad Competition
Until the appearance of Clint Eastwood in the Chrysler ad, I was thoroughly underwhelmed by the efforts of the ad agencies who produced the various auto ads for the Super Bowl.

They were all contrived, cliche, expected and worked just a little too hard.

Old recipes that just don't taste good anymore.

It was like they made beer commercials and replaced the product shots with cars.

Sorry, fellas, but NONE of them HAD IT.

Except THIS ad from Chrysler starring Clint 'Gran Torino' Eastwood.

And just like the Eminem spots in previous games, it delivered a truthful, emotional and AUTHENTIC message.

Even though it was shown during a game, the one key line that resonated with me is what we're doing here in America competing in this global market is NOT A GAME. There is too much at stake.

Kudos to Chrysler, AutoSpies.com awards YOU the ring for winning the Super Bowl of car ads.

Let us know your opinions and if you saw any others that you thought were SUPER BOWL worthy efforts.

Are you kidding. Chrysler is owned and controlled by an Italian conglomerate. Nothing American about this company. I like Clint in this commercial but it misses the point.

Clint is and always will be an American icon, but I agree that he missed the point with Chrysler... two points actually.
1. The company is now ITALIAN, not American owned, despite Obama's management team being involved
2. It is also run by the UAW who stole American taxpayer dollars to subsidize and grow their already fat retirement plans while everyone else received NO BENEFIT from the bailout. The Bailout is UNAMERICAN in every way and the reason why I will never buy GM or Chrysler.

Even if it was American, these cars are made by thugs who use corruption in government to grow their pension plans and care nothing about building quality cars (i know first hand having worked performance at some of those sites).

Bottom line Clint, supporting America is great, but Chrysler/GM do not represent the better American values. We should have let these companies go bankrupt. Market forces indicated that they made a bad product or at least an overpriced product with very questionable quality and design. Like any other business which does not perform, it should have gone bankrupt.

My last two Chrysler products were made in Mexico (PT Cruiser) and Canada (Magnum).... I don't care what they "say", I'm not buying any more Chryslers.

NoMoreObama,
Get a grip on yourself. For your own sake, for your 8 year's sake and for the rest of us tired of your diatribes! We have tons of challenges in this country but so do other countries. Having spent a lot of time traveling the world, I think we are fortunate to be here. I thought Clint's commercial was excellent. Left me feeling more optimistic than ever.

MarathonBob-You bring a positive spin to the Tea Party Brigade. They don't really seem to care about the massive increase in potential unemployment by letting these 2 companies go bust would have brought. They ingnore the billions put in comapanies like AIG or the 5 largest banks that continued to pay out huge salaries to their top executives and did after they received the money from uncle sam. They gloss over the fact that the money given to these companies dwarfed the money paid out to the auto companies. They forget that Chrysler has paid back it's loan to the US government. They also forget that when Chrysler was owned by Daimler they never called it a "German" company. When it was owned by "Cerberus" it was never called a "Financial" company. They also forget that both those 2 companies destroyed Chrysler. Yet when an Italian company took control and actually redesigned product the American people actually started to look at Chrysler group again and actually started to buy cars from them. They also gloss over the fact that Chrysler profits are now holding up Fiat financially now.(So the patient is supporting the doctor). It is so easy to critisize Obama as he is the sitting president. They convienently forget that this administration was faced with the worst economic conditions that "any" sitting president has ever faced since the "Great Depression".And as usual in Washington the current Republican dominated House and minority senate will go to any lengths to thwart any meaningful ideas to help further move this economy forward for the simple purpose of trying to unseat the president for the next term. But aside from all of that whats worse is they take a Commercial that was tastefully done, that was not directly promoting Chrysler, but was trying to bolster peoples spirits and beat it down. Shame on them!!

NoMoreObama,
Oh brother, you must hate the sun when it comes up every morning, you must hate the air that you have to breath. You clearly hate everything else on this planet. I feel sorry for you and all those who must experience your hate and can't get in the cars the rest of us love and drive away!

I just came back from a ride with my dog. Because I love cars and dogs! Give it a try!
