2013 BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe Priced From $76,895
Fans of four-door coupes got a new car to love late last year when BMW took the wraps off the 2013 6-Series Gran Coupe. Today, the company revealed pricing on the four-door 640i Gran Coupe will start at $76,895--a premium of about $3,000 over the two-door model.

Twice as many doors and more usable back seats for just $3,000? Sounds like a bargain--if you're a fan of the look. If you're not, there's always the 5-Series and 7-Series sedans, which essentially bracket the 6er Gran Coupe's price.

Initial sales will start with the 640i model early this summer. The 40i in the name refers to the turbocharged N55 inline six-cylinder rated at 315 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque. Later in the summer 650i and 650i xDrive models will follow, powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 good for 445 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque.

So the 40i is a 3.0L and the 50i is a 4.4L? I weep a little inside. Though I love the car. What sucks is I stopped by my local dealer today and asked if they had a release date for the Gran Coupe and was met with a completely blank stare. The sales guy had no clue what that car was. (Also asked about the M550d, but that too was met with confusion).

The ghettos in western Europe are made up of non-Europeans. Just like here.

Why did BMW price it out of its class? The CLS and the A7 are both significantly cheaper than the GC. Still looks gorgeous though.

Gorgeous car. Conservative and understated, but classy and elegant nonetheless.

chris760: I disagree cause that depend of the accessories... CLS start at 71,000$ and it can reach 131,000. So let see with ALL the accessories how much will cost it then we can say what have the best price. CLS in the other part have clearly better design than the E class or E63. IN GC case It can't touch the 5 or M5 (for me the best BMW design right now), GC looks like the old caprice SS with too much overhangs in both ends. And Please that IMO. I think that car have its market but definitely MB buyers won't see it, Specially those looking real style and no a copy of other car with 2 extra doors... I bet even the parts are almost the same, (which is not bad for the business but impact the alternatives for the customer).

It's expensive, but it's also larger than the CLS and A7. While MB and Audi are marketing the CLS and A7 as more stylish versions of the E-Class and A6, and they compete directly against each other, BMW is marketing this car to people who want a more stylish 7-Series, not a more stylish 5-Series. Their target was to compete with the Porsche Panamera more than the CLS and A7.

I understand but I disagree, why you think they called it Grand Coupe? and Size difference is very small (GC is 6 cm longer ....big overhangs, almost 2 cm lower, and the wheelbase is almost 9 bigger), GC wheelbase is 116, CLS is 113 and Panamera is 114, Most likely they try a 4 door coupe but now is more like 6 limo. Also to say that CLS is an Stylish version of the E is also completely wrong, I can say that about the Grand Coupe in reference to 7 series but the fact is that Grand Coupe is just a 6 series with 2 extra doors, is not even an stylish 7 series (that would be better than the copy paste design job that they did in that car). It already is aging and looking outdated TO ME. I hate the trend that BMW is following now, that car looks heavy, Hopefully It will drive as real BMW. M5 disappoint me cause it was around 1 second quicker on the track than the CLS, so I am not Optimistic, I am fan of MB for Luxury and BMW for performance but now both are so similar that and the the only difference will be the brand. The GC needs redesign and I see 6 series 2 doors losing customers. Some looking for an alternative to the CLS or A7 will buy this But GC instead of Panamera, only the ones with not enough money, Panamera plain is 75,000 (cheaper than the GC) but with all the goodies it will top 173,000, So definitely I do not see it as Panamera competitor (in Price). Lastly , based in dimensions GC, CLS A7 and Panamera , all are in the same page and in performance too, but not in price man.

Corection: Panamera with ALL good can go beyond 220,000$.
