VIDEO: YOU Decide - How Does The 2013 Cadillac ATS SOUND Compared To The Other Guys?
One of the biggest hurdles for the 2013 Cadillac ATS will be the 2012 BMW 3-Series. Not so much because it is the benchmark vehicle in its class BUT because Cadillac has said plenty of times that it is aiming to take it down.

And one of the key elements to the BMW is its sound. Personally, I find a BMW straight-six to be one of the best sounds on the planet. Too bad BMW botched the sound job on the all-new 328i. Thankfully, the 335i is still around.

Back to the ATS.

Cadillac recently released this clip of the all-new 2013 ATS undergoing testing to optimize its refined sound, which the interviewee says Cadillac is known for.

Give the clip a listen and let us know: What do you think of the all-new ATS' sound?

I think it's safe to say that Cadillac is showing us the 3.6-liter V6, which makes 318 horsepower and 267 lb.-ft. of torque. That sure as hell doesn't sound like a four banger!

I'm pretty sure it's the V6, and it sounds good, but maybe it's just me, but it sounds very similar to BMW's inline 6! That's what is surprising

Sorry to crash your party Cadillac but in this segment the Infiniti G37 sedan and especially the coupe has the best exhaust note period.

@Lexus

You're likely trolling but for whatever reason I feel compelled to say "Nope."

This Cadillac sounds much more throaty and less like a manufactured exhaust note -- even though it clearly is -- over the Infiniti G.

The G has a unique burble, which is cool...if you're a college kid...

@blazin

You have to admit though, GM did pioneer the magnetic suspension. You can't argue that.

I don't think many people care about sound; however, it is trying HARD to appeal to the enthusiast crowd. In my opinion, that's not a really smart marketing angle when the enthusiast is a dwindling majority.

Take, for example, BMW and it's new four-banger in the 328i and 528i. Personally, I think this is BMW's admission that its demo isn't the enthusiast because that motor sounds awful, granted, that car will fly off lots because it has: 1) Enough power, 2) Is fuel efficient. Normal consumers DON'T care how the product sounds.

Back to the ATS: I will say that the new V6 sounds damned good. AND it's better than the Infiniti G's exhaust, contrary to our friend's belief above.

blazin, what's worse, having a proper exhaust system, or pulling a bmw/lexus and having to use your speakers to give you faux representation of your engines sound. lol

@, AgentOOR who are you kidding? Do me a favor go and watch all the automotive reviews about the Infiniti G35/37 both sedan and coupe about their exhaust.

It really make you foolish and childish if you have to start calling me name. But I Never like any of your post because you tend to stick on your nose up the a$# of any automakers that's Not Japanese.

When my friends and I first heard the Infiniti G and FX, we were mesmerized by its exhaust note. 00R might have a point. That was back in 2003 or 2004 and I was about 20 or 21 years old.
