Audi Says Made In USA Is Important When Deciding New Plant Location
Volkswagen AG expects to choose a site for Audi's much-anticipated North American plant by the summer, and locations in Mexico and the United States are in the running, said Michael Macht, VW's head of manufacturing.

After picking a site it will take about 2 1/2 years to begin production, Macht told Automotive News Europe.

I don't understand why though... People looking to buy a vehicle specifically because it was made in the USA won't bother looking at them in the first place.

Sometimes, diplomacy dictates that you say "made in the USA would be good" rather than "made in Mexico might have negative marketing implications."
