Has Hyundai Outclassed The G37 Coupe Both In Price And Horsepower With 2012 Genesis Coupe?
Hyundai Motor America has announced pricing for the refreshed 2013 Genesis Coupe, starting at $24,250 for the 2.0T model and $28,750 for the 3.8-liter R-Spec model. The Genesis Coupe now sports more aggressive coupe styling, striking a more menacing demeanor from every angle. Inside, the 2013 Genesis Coupe interior has been enhanced with distinctive, upscale features and design cues. To match more aggressive design, both 4-cylinder and V6 engines benefit from significant technology enhancements. The 3.8-liter Lambda DOHC V6 engine adds sophisticated direct-injection technology, with peak horsepower rising to 348 at 6,400 RPM, and peak torque increasing to 295 lb.-ft. on premium fuel. The 2.0-liter turbo now generates 274 horsepower and 275 lb.-ft. of torque on premium fuel. Automatic transmissions for these two models now have 8-speeds, with paddle-shift SHIFTRONIC® manual-shifting capability. The 2013 Genesis Coupe goes on sale in March.

Thats just plain dumb. Since when did it even outclass or shine the Nissan Z for it to come close to Infiniti's playground? You clearly haven't driven both cars. Why not just pit it up against the GT-R for a fair comparison?

It still looks ugly and cheap to me.

It will take a lot more than bargain horsepower for the Hyundai Genericsis to outclass the G37. I'll reserve judgment for this 'in-house' built 8 Speed transmission that is yet to be proven.

Blazinboy, while I can respect Hyundai for developing an 8-speed tranny and using rwd platforms (something Acura has yet to do!?!), you nailed it on the head with your first sentence.

Plus, the Genesis has a crap interior for a $34k vehicle. Sorry.

The one thing Nissan can take note of is giving the option of a lower displacement, turbo engine. Instead, they stuff the beast-of-an-engine, 3.7L, in everything. Where is the EX25? JX25? G25 coupe?

Anyway, mad props for Hyundai but definitely not an Infiniti.

There's something very wrong in the front.

We're talking about the Genesis coupe not the Sonata Turbo. Specifically the V6 Genesis coupe.

Mustang/Camaro V6 is the Genesis V6 competition. Let's see if it can compete with those on performance.

A G37 is more of a luxury sports coupe with most likely more rear room. The Genesis coupe competes more with a Z cr or a Mustang.

such a shame so many drivers will miss out on a nicely priced rear wheel drive car with almost 350hp because it is so ugly from the front that no matter how fast or how well it performs no-one will want it. The first ones front end was too bland, this one is way over the edge and clashes with the rest of the cars design. Even if it were faster than an M3 it wouldn't sell. I was hoping for something better looking, especially to give the car more appeal. this is a step backward.
