It could be if you could buy one in your state and if you can figure out where to refuel it with CNG. The Fit EV looks promising.

The BRC Phill available in California, costs $3400 + $150 shipping + $1000 installation + $120 gas safety sensor. There is a $1000 state tax credit. It takes "several hours" to refuel the GX, consumes 1kW, and generates a 40 dBA noise measured at 5 m distance.

Home-supplied gas is "significantly" cheaper than CNG available commercially.

With a 200-mile range depending on driving habits the Civic GX would need refueling about once a week.

With this direction the tax payers will fitt the bill to give these cars away free, just like free cellphones that are given to those on welfare along with 250 free minutes a month. Lets create more freeloaders, that will make the econmy strong!
