If Romney Promised To Take Down The UAW Would You Vote For Him?
Mitt Romney delivered a Valentine’s card to Detroit this morning, but the Republican Presidential candidate pointedly excluded the autoworker unions from the warm embrace. His op-ed, published in today’s Detroit News, makes clearer than ever that Romney hopes to use Big Labor as a stepping stone to the Presidency—namely by campaigning against it. That’s probably a winning strategy, mathematically. As Romney’s campaign website takes pains to note, the share of private sector workers who are union members has fallen to 7 percent, from 37 percent in the 1950s. And 51 percent of respondents to a survey said unions “mostly hurt” the economy.

Taking down the UAW is a great idea.

Add to that all Public Employee Unions.

Taxpayers are tired of being taken for a ride by these guys.

CARS ARE FUN

Black people are decendents of cain and so therefore inherently "cursed" (and btw blacks weren't openly allowed into the Mormon faith until the 80's)
If you raise a good family you and your spouse will inheret a planet to rule over."

- Is all of this true? Don't answer, I already know that it is. And you guys are getting on him for stating the facts? WOW!!!

At the end of the day, All religion is heresay and from the perspective of someone who is atheist/agnostic it all sounds ridiculous. One religion making fun of another is even more ridiculous.
No I would not ever vote for Romney or Obama or any other candidate that is going to continue to spend my money where they see fit while at the same time slowly taking away the few precious freedoms I have left.

My 2 Cents

I'm a "religious freak". A born-again Christian religious freak to be more specific. What year would you say it was when America was at its most prosperous and strongest? What was the rate of Church attendance back then compared to now and what were America's laws on moral issues such as abortion and homosexuals? Badgewhore likes his evil and is not willing to give it up.

many were against GM before the bailout because of the unions and their lack of performance and passion for building cars (having experienced working in those same plants directly myself as an engineer).

Kill the UAW, seriously? Hell, let's just reinstate indentured servitude while we're at it. I now know the definition of sheeple..smh

Romney is the new Obama, so anyone that votes for this greedy and flip flopper man will be sorry the same way those that voted for Obama are sorry now.

Rick Santorum is the ticket to go, this country needs someone who really cares and not just preach about them just to get peoples votes.

sure...built from foreign parts, owned by foreign brands, tested in german circuits...I mean how STUPID can an American brand be to highlight the fact that what makes their cars so special is that they were tested in the NURBURGRING?!?!?... I can see Germans taking pride in that, not Americans! It is no wonder then that German cars have been on a tear the last few years, taking 15% share of the luxury market away from the Japanese... and this is not even counting VWs share gain.

add to that tomorrow GM will announce the largest profit in the 1ast 100 years of existence. Romney said let them fail, the city of Detroit and it's people be damned.

I know it's popular to be republican these days with the tea party and all but you have no idea what you're supporting and I know it. Hopefully you'll realize that before election day..if not, you get what you deserve with Mitt.

I swear that guy has been on both sides of every major issue in this country, enjoy your nominee, he's got the vaseline ready to go, now get in line like good ole' boys...lol!!!

so, then we should support failed ideas, and bailout everyone with taxpayer money. Where does the line stop?

Letting GM and Chrysler fail may have been less of a burden on our economy than bailing them out! We will be paying off this bailout debt for DECADES to come!!!

of course the UAW is not the problem, the Republican is decidedly anti-union. Workers should have no rights, the privilege of being allowed to work is all anyone should hope for.

You wanna know what anti-union looks like? Have a look at the people making your iPhones and iPads in China. This country was no different not so long ago. Those who forget their history are doomed to repeat it.....

Nice example there stone... a bit biased and misguided aren't we?

Comparing the anti-union to shops in communist regimes is hardly an apples to apples comparison (but then again, since when to liberals think with their brains?). I would of course look within our country and name the VW Plant in TN as an example of a right-to-work "anti-union" as some call them work places. These are cars made in America by Americans who get to CHOOSE how they want to work and are not forced or indoctrinated into the UAW thug gangs.

Romney has flipped flopped more then any other candidate running for the presidency.Originally in 2008 he supported the bailout. 10 months later he wrote an editorial against the bailout. The basic reason he is doing this is to try an garner more of the conservative vote.In the past 2 years the state of Michigan's economy has significantly improved from where it was. This is due primarily to the success of the auto industry bailouts. All 3 American companies are now showing a profit. The UAW does not need to be taken down but it can be better controlled. The auto companies themselves can take the lead here. Marchionne of Chrysler has demonstrated that he is an incredibly tough negotiator. here is a guy that basically tolled the Fiat union workers in Italy to go stuff it. And for you conservatives out there know this. If Romney were president and tried to intervene in the UAW then THAT IS GOVERNMENTAL INTERVENTION,OR YOU ALL CALL IT SOCIALISM.

(excluding Ford) if you define profit as a company who AFTER failing to repay the FULL bailout dollars they were given by taxpayers, then post a RELATIVE PROFIT, then YES, you'd be right.

However, the bailout was structured into loans and awards. GM paid back their loan but it never needed to pay back the $8B award. This is still taxpayer money, WASTED and NOT PAID BACK. THUS Chrysler and GM are in reality operating at a $8B LOSS. Who do you think they are kidding? (maybe brainwashed liberals).

I would vote for Romney if he wins the primary, but I hope he does not (despite anything he promises regarding the UAW). I'll vote for Bugs Bunny if he rans against Obama!

The only way i would ever buy a GM vehicle is if they discounted a car by the total contribution made on my name to their bailout PLUS they would have to either abolish the UAW or reduce them to the same level as regular working folks.

I'm not holding my breath, and I thank the southeastern states (Right to work states) for bringing in VW, BMW, MB and hopefully soon to be Audi Plant.

Workers should not have rights, bring down the Unions!!! I always want to see our labor costs go down... if we can get the average American workers wages down to the average Chinese workers wages or Ugandan workers wages we will again be a competitive and great nation again!
