RENDERED SPECULATION: Will The Upcoming BMW M6 Gran Coupe STEAL The M5's Thunder?

RENDERED SPECULATION: Will The Upcoming BMW M6 Gran Coupe STEAL The M5's Thunder?
Oh-kay, so first it was the relaunch of the iconic BMW M5. A car that's largely considered a perennial favorite for executives that crave a more powerful package, the M5 has been delivering smiles for years.

Then this past weekend brought the launch of the M6 coupe and convertible, which are considered the flagships of the M division. Obviously they possess many of the same traits as the M5; however, it was done in a much more sleek fashion. Oh yeah, minus two doors...and a roof.

But there's still one more left to go. And that, my friends, is the M6 Gran Coupe. As the 6-Series Gran Coupe's information has come out, it's patently obvious that it sticks to the 6's DNA VERY closely. That said, all you really have to do is slap on the M6 packaging and that's a pretty telling image of what the M Gran Coupe will look like.

So, the very talented Wildspeed -- who's known for his/her impressive renderings -- did his/her handiwork and compiled this intriguing image below.

Question is: What do YOU make of it?

AND once you're done answering that, answer this: Will the all-new M6 Gran Coupe take the wind out of the M5's sails?

The 2013 M6 coupe and convertible were revealed this past weekend and we now preview the production M6 Gran Coupe for you, by way of these renders which digitally remove the prototype's camouflage. The car will wear the same front and rear end design as the M6 Coupe, but obviously with 2-extra doors and a longer body. We've also included the sporty carbon fiber roof from the M6 coupe...

It probably will. To the general public, that is considerably more attractive. The price difference will probably mean little in such a situation. However, the M5 does look more aggressive and leaner, which enthusiasts would love.

I strongly doubt that. M5 was designed to be a great performer. The M6 is just a copy paste job of the 6 series coupe. It will be a good performer but the one looking for the Performance and Design wont change the M5 for the M6. M6 will be heavier than the M5 and the 116 wheelbase is almost screaming that. I a boat with M badge so it will sale..not too much, but it will.

the gran coupe is already a stunning car inside and out. given that M treatments are aggressive but still understated, i'm sure the gran coupe will look great in M guise.

I really like the new BMW models, they finally fixed them from the previously ugly ones. But, yes the M6 will hurt the M5's market, it will be based on the individual's taste to have or not have a bit more leg/head room. Just like the X5/X6 are.

The standard 650 GC has almost the same performance figures as the M5. So the M6 will have better performance figures than the M5.
