Feds Release Interface Design Guidelines To Reduce Distracted Driving Crashes

Washington officials have released this morning the first-ever federally-proposed guidelines to encourage auto makers to reduce distractions of in-car electronics and mobile devices.
The voluntary rules for visual or manual features are the first of several such recommendations the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration plans to unveil to address the potential distraction of mobile devices and their applications that sometimes take a driver’s hands off the wheel or eyes off the road.
The announcement was made at a news conference in Washington this morning.
