What Are they Smoking? Study Ranks Hyundai At Top, Infiniti At Bottom And Toyota As A B Minus?
TrueCar.com, the authority in new car pricing, trends and forecasting released its Performance Scorecards for automotive manufacturers and brands. The Performance Scorecards grade each manufacturer and brand on eight different measurements including pricing, sales, incentives, customer loyalty, market share and days in inventory.

Overall, the top manufacturers on the Scorecards in January were Hyundai, Porsche, and Honda. Near the bottom of the list were Volvo, Suzuki and Saab. The brands that received the highest grades were Hyundai, Kia, and Scion, and the brands with the lowest grades were Infiniti, Suzuki, Smart, and Saab.

The biggest gainers among manufacturers, from December 2011 to January 2012 were:

  • Honda moved from an A- to an A
  • Jaguar Land Rover moved from a B+ to an A-
  • Subaru moved from a B to a B+
  • Toyota moved from a C+ to a B-
  • Chrysler moved from a C+ to a B-
  • Nissan moved from a C to a C+

 

The biggest decliners among manufacturers, from December 2011 to January 2012 were:

  • Daimler moved from an A to a B
  • Mitsubishi moved from a B- to a C-
  • Mazda moved from a B- to a C+

Not even their site tells you. They tell you what they're measuring, but not how nor towards what end. The site is geared toward consumer purchasing decisions, so I guess they're saying these are the brands to buy or avoid.
