Wagons. European's LOVE Them And Amerk's Think They're POISON. WHAT Will It Take To Change That?
I think I can say with confidence that we here at AutoSpies.com think wagons are NOT poison.

In fact, in a lot of cases, we think configured correctly, they can actually be COOL.

But we're at the polar opposite of MOST Americans.

Ask most dealers (ESPECIALLY Cadillac dealers sitting on all those CTS's) and their skin will turn a morbid shade of grey when the word 'wagon' enters the conversation.

I'm pretty sure the reason Americans HATE them is because of three things.

The American station wagons of the 70's and 80's, MOM and all the GREAT crossover's on the market.

Those wagons produced by the Big 3 just couldn't have gotten more craptastic in the day.

Plus, the visions conjured up in the ladies minds today that if they're driving in wagon they look like Mom in the drivers seat in curlers, COMPLETELY unattractive to the opposite sex, AIN'T helping!

And lastly, new crossovers like the wicked hot Range Rover Evoque aren't going to make anyone run back to the wagon anytime soon in the USA.

But if there was ONE that could have a chance, we think it would be the 2013 Audi RS4.

Just check out how beautiful it is! (Make mine Nagaro blue with two-tone blue black interior).

Chime in and let us know what it would take or if EVER, wagons will get hot again in the good old US of A.

Beautiful no.

Beastly yes.

And at close to 90k in Euro's no soccer mom's will be buying them anytime soon.
Think rich Olympic skiers and Eurotech CEO's with houses and the Alps and there's your market.

It's funny because pretty much all of the crossover SUV's these wagon-haters are buying are classified as...WAGONS.

I don't care how much that RS4 is, it's dead sexy, then again, in Canada were not as bad American's when it comes to wagons. Actually, a lot of people don't like that fact that we don't get some of the vehicles (myself included) because the companies won't see the wagons to the Americans....we shouldn't be included in that group!!!

Define "less capable wagons".

A wagon would offer us more practicality and be twice as fuel efficient as an SUV, not to mention it would be more comfortable and also handle better.

Nowhere else in the world is fuel wasted so needlessly like in the good US of A, where a mom needs a 300-hp 3.5-ton SUV to bring junior from her house down the block to soccer practice.

SUVs don't appeal to me at all. A wagon on the other hand...

If the Cadillac CTS/CTS-V Sport Wagon can't change American's minds, I don't know what will. I love wagons, personally!

I have always likes the A4 Avant, the CTS wagon is sharp as well. Personally I'd buy one in a heart beat before a Q something, or that gad awful Cadillac thing the call a crossover. JMHO

I'm still ticked off at Subaru turning the Outback into an SUV.

Maybe this will give a chance for that sexy new Subaru wagon concept to come to fruition?

Make them with that 3rd row of rear facing seats. I really wanted to get a 5 series wagon with the M sport kit, however I need that third row just about 3 times a month so I ended up with the X5 35d with the 3rd row seat.
