Consumers Willing To Pay More For Hyundai Than Toyota Or Honda Counterparts
South Korean automaker Hyundai, which has been working to shed its bargain-brand image and emerge from the shadows of Japan's biggest brands, now commands higher prices than they do in the hot compact-car segment.

An analysis of transaction prices — what people actually paid for new cars — shows Hyundai not only has pulled ahead of Toyota and Honda, the compact segment leaders, but is closing the gap in midsize sedans. Those are key product segments for Hyundai, generating more than half its car sales last year.

I knew you'd eventually come around to admitting how you really feel about GM products.

It's not 009, if the "public" is willing to pay more, than that's what it is. Good marketing by Hyundai.

They don't sell them that high because they won't move them at that price.

Simple economics. You price as high as you feel you can sell them for.

You are so very wrong. Go to any Honda or Toyota dealership and you will see pretty much every Civic and Corolla are over $20k

The Corolla is badly in need of a serious platform update. It was a Toyota "cash cow" so they didn't need to do much for it and they didn't. The Civic is still sqeaking by on the reputation and looks of its 2006 design. The Elantra is actually a great compact choice right now, all new, great looks (IMO but subjective of course), great warranty, they're starting to reap the rewards of their success now.
