Even If This Is The All-New Dodge Viper, What Does It NEED To Be Successful?
This week it seems that the WHOLE world and their mothers were talking about the Hot Wheels-leaked Viper rendering. Oh-kay, so it's an image taken from the legendary toy maker's 2012 lineup.

Could it possibly be the all-new Viper? Absolutely.

Could it be a coincidence? Absolutely.

MORE important than how the car looks though is what YOU think the all-new Viper will need to be competitive against cars like the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Porsche 911 Turbo, Nissan GT-R, etc.

Considering rumors have linked the upcoming snake to the Italian side of the company, we're hopeful for a product that has more of a focus on refinement and handling capability. There's something really enticing about a car that feels as though it's about to bite your head off; however, a little polishing up wouldn't be so bad either...

So SRT is becoming its own brand in the same way that Ram did recently?

Currently it's an in-house tuner (think M, AMG, Quattro).

FromThePassengerSeat, NO it is NOT an In House Tuner. The SRT Group has been spun off to form it's own BRAND. Ralph Gilles formerly CEO of the Dodge brand has been appointed head of the SRT DIVISION. It happened in 2011. I don't know how much clearer I can Make it!!! Get up to speed.

@bill

Glad to see you're enthusiastic but you have to remember not many buyers are cross shopping an SRT Charger and Lexus GS F-Sport.

AND, given its power advantage, I'd hope the Charger would turn out better numbers and not just in the 1/4 mile.

A Viper is not civilized. It's a feral predator. If this new one isn't uncomfortable and impractical, it won't be a Viper anymore.

@FromThePassengerSeat

You have a valid point.

If that was true then why hasn't the Genesis Coupe been getting more love from Mustang and Camaro consumers?

Let's be honest: it NEEDS to maintain the raw spirit of its predecessors, it NEEDS to beat the ZR1 around the track if not in top-speed or 0-60/quarter-mile times. What REALLY matters the MOST though, is that whatever track-mods come out should allow it to break the all-important 7-minute barrier at the Nürburgring. If a factory-built car with optional tires can do sub-7min laps at Nürburgring, that will be how success should be defined for this monster. They came pretty damn close with the last-gen Viper ACR, they can either do it with this one or take their toys and go home, IMHO.

Gentlemen, I can assure you that all of the leaked photos are incorrect including the one above. The interior shot that was shown on other sites is not even close. The 2013 Viper will blow your socks off and from the SRT guys quote " you will not be dissapointed". I can tell you the air vent shot was on the "Hip" [below where a B pillar would be] of the car. The last gen viper did a 7.02 at the ring and the video was just released. The 2013 will break the 7 min mark. And BTW the Challenger is definately staying.... "Cuda" :) ???
