STUD OR DUD: Ferrari's F12 Berlinetta Previewed Ahead Of Geneva

This is the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, the fastest and most powerful road car in the prancing horse’s illustrious history. Set for a world debut at next week’s Geneva motor show, the 730bhp 6.3-litre V12-powered Ferrari 599 replacement ushers in a new generation of V12 engines that will include an all-new Enzo by the end of the year.

The F12 Berlinetta can crack 0-62mph in just 3.1sec and 0-124mph in just 8.5sec. Its total torque output is 509lb ft, 80 per cent of which is available from 2500rpm. The normally aspirated V12 revs all the way 8700rpm.

It was originally thought to be called the Ferrari 620GT, but the official name references classic Ferraris including the 250 GT Berlinetta.

Reminds me somewhat of the 550/575 generation and that is not a bad thing. Some styling elements don't look that great though.

I'd bet you anything that this will be slower around a track than the next ZR1.

Overall not perfect but far better than the 458, California or FF.

I wish they take some risks with their design, their recent cars have been somewhat plebian...

Looks like a FF minus the hatch. Was expecting much better design from Ferrari. Doesn't look half as good as 458 Italia.

Nice but the rear for me is the same history as the SL front lights....ugly rear..

The sillouette is more classic Ferrari. I like the look of the rear 3/4 view.I like the fact that the Ferrari fron grill is more prominant but I don't the shape of it. It has a bit too much Mazda "smily face" about it. I'm also not in love with the headlamps. The rear of the car is more successful. However I wish (since they are harking back to the traditional Coupe a la Ferrari Daytona)that they would have gone to the smaller double tail lamps instead of looking more like the Alfa 8C single lamp.Interior again is classic modern Ferrari. I like the more traditional numbered dials instead of that silly colored tach thats on the 458.One last thing the scalloped sides are simple too busy and do not add at all to enhance the overall design of the car.So it's certainly not a dud as there is some excitment to the look. But it's not a stud either because some of the design elements take away from the overall sillouette. If Ferrari could clean it up a bit and redo the head lamps then it could get the stud rating.
