Apple Begins Hiring Automotive Engineers - Is Siri Set To Revolutionize A Second Industry?
Apple is in the process of hiring automotive engineers in China, based on a recruiter posting in the Chinese version of LinkedIn. While the site admits there’s no evidence to suggest what the electronics juggernaut may be planning down the road, author Matt Hardigree suggests the position’s qualifications would be ideal “for the kind of person you’d need if you were trying to manufacture a device to fit into a car dashboard.”

How can it revolutionize a second when it hasn't even revolutionized a first.

If we must have computers in cars, then Apple is the right company to do it.

iTunes revolutionized the way we buy music. CD sales anybody?

iPhone + App Store revolutionized the way we used phones. Still carry around a point and shoot? Android would not have existed without iOS paving the way first.

Just like Netflix revolutionized movie rentals and Amazon revolutionized online commerce, Apple did its part as well.

Interesting... I can argue that without windows Pocket PC and Palm OS, IOS would not have existed either?

P.S. I'm sure there were those before palm/pocket PC, but you get it.

First is not necessarily "revolutionary", that's the point - the palm/pocket PC were "first", but didn't revolutionize anything, people didn't care. Apple was smart enough to create an ecosystem to go with the hardware.

I don't know a lot of people who even use Siri (or whatever it's called)on their phones. I don't think it is terribly revolutionary.

I heard Steve Job was going to bring a transporter system to market based on the Star Trek concept. He just needed help getting the Heisenberg compensators properly aligned before production could begin in China.
