Audi Delivers Personal Showroom To Disappointed Chicago Auto Show Fan
Today we found an interesting post on a5oc.com in the RS5 General Q&A forum. A user Joshua Smith aka audi_s5 a potential RS 5 owner. Wrote a letter to President of Audi of America Johan de Nysschen about his recent experience at the Chicago Auto Show. We know the stress of Auto Shows and know first hand they aren’t the greatest place to check out the newest models privately.

As we found out from the exchange that there is currently only one RS 5 allotted to AOA for Auto Show display. Due to the way people tend to poke and prod at the cars they always end up with broken interior bits and pieces missing completely. So we can understand their reluctance to allow crowds of people to sit in the car and poke around. Audi of America did the next best thing and brought the show to Joshua.

Audi, now that's how you do it!

Interesting. When I went into my nearby Audi dealership and looked around for 20 minutes without anyone offering assistance, I left. I guess I should have written a letter to Audi USA. Though I'm glad I didn't. I ended up with a better dealer and cooler car from a non German manufacturer.

You know, I have to ask, because I see people say "I walked around the lot for xxx minutes and no one came out so I left and bought somewhere else" on the internet all the time. It always strikes me as strange, and frankly, counter intuitive. You took time out of your day to drive to a dealer, and you took 20 minutes more of your time walking around outside when you got there -- and yet you didn't take the 15 seconds to walk inside? It just seems silly not to if you actually wanted help. I mean, you ask for help at Home Depot, right? But not at a car dealer? All you accomplished was wasting your own time, and then you had to spend even more of it going somewhere else presumably because you wanted to "teach that dealer a lesson" (a lesson they'll never actually learn, because no one knows you were ever there). I've never understood it. When I need help, wherever I am, I go get help. I don't waste more of my time driving to Lowes because no one approached me while I was already at Home Depot.

My wife and I were INSIDE the Glenview, IL Audi showroom for 20 minutes before we left. Two days prior to that, I requested an internet quote before we visited the dealer - they called me back about 7 days afterwords, or 5 days after we purchased another car.... I don't get it either!

Good for him......

I just sent a litigious letter to Ferrari NA regarding why they have not let me personally inspect their new
F12berlinetta. I expect them to show up at my door any day now....

I keed.

The PR boys and girls at Audi know what they are doing. Very smart move.

Where are all the Audi PR people? They just left the cars there for a while? Wow! As much as I hate on Audi I love this.

Agree. This guy is spending way to much on cars while his house is tiny.

Not loving that front end - it looks like something Lexus would come up with.

This is FABULOUS and this is one small reason why I love my 2012 Audi A6. I wish I would have been able to view all of these cars. Really Neat!!

An the owner of a 3rd A4 and a Q7, I think this is great for what Audi did. The representative at the show should have invited him back at a later time. However, does this guy really need to see the inside of the car. He already has a S5. It comes down to a few minor trim pieces. Not like he could test drive it there to see how it performed. I bought my 3rd A4 (a 2012) without sitting in one because, guess what, it was the same as my 2009 A4.

Let's be honest - there are many FINE cars out there!! All of the car makers are doing their best to get you to buy their product or switch to it. This is a good stunt and the PR person in charge should get a raise for this one. You can't do this too often since it may get expensive, but very ingenious and imaginative PR performed!!
