Hyundai Moving Past Toyota To Focus On BMW And Mercedes

Hyundai Moving Past Toyota To Focus On BMW And Mercedes

Hyundai Motor Co. Chairman Chung Mong Koo crosses the stage for his New Years address, his heels clicking as 600 employees wait in silence.

Wearing a blue pinstriped suit, blue sweater and red tie, the 73-year-old son of Hyundai’s founder praises workers for building the world’s fifth-largest automaker. Then he considers the year ahead. Europe’s debt crisis will trim global growth, Chung says, yet he sees a bright side: Hyundai will have time to improve quality to take on the likes of BMW and Mercedes -- making a full-speed run at becoming what he calls an ilryu giup, a global top player, Bloomberg Markets magazine reports in its April issue.

Jesus, please be serious. Hyundai doesn't compete with BMW or Mercedes. Never has and certainly never will from a brand image point of view.

Well why not, if they're devoted to do so they can do it. After all BMW/MB are nothing but some peace of crap. To know what I'm talking about find yourself a MASTER mechanic and he'll tell you what they are, and I don't mean some part changer at a dealer or BigOTires.

i asked a vw tech about the golf tdi's reliability--he said I'd be fine going with the current generation since they're at the end of their cycle so the bugs have been worked out.

Have you guys seen the current Toyotas? It isn't hard to pass those appliances. Hyundai's current vehicle lineup already has surpassed Toyota's current lineup.

Model for Model, which Toyota is better than the competing Hyundai? Answer that question before you deboost me.

Answer the question instead of spewing your insecure fanboy reaction.

And that question was "Model for Model, which Toyota is better than the competing Hyundai?

You along with the folks who deboosted me are delusional? Notice how not a single person answered my question? All you guys do is attack, insult, and deboost when someone speaks the truth about your beloved, lame, boring brand. What else is there to do for a toyota fan?

^^^ Toyota Loving Fanboy ^^^. Or better yet, Lover of Lame cars. This century must be rough for you Toyota Fans. LOL!! Hyundai builds more desirable cars than Toyota. Sad but true.

Toyota is a lame brand. But rather than speak about the car, you call people "Delusional" and "T.A.R.D" when people speak the truth about Toyota. That's how a fanboy reacts. You have no argument so you attack the person rather than speak about the Merits of the car. You Toyota Fanboys get worse and worse all the time.

Let me know when Toyota builds a car that can compete with the Genesis Coupe and 370z. And the only place in the entire world in which lexus can take on BMW and Mercedes is in the U.S.A. The rest of the planet aren't as dumb as americans.

“We have to make 6.5 million vehicles with the quality of a BMW or Mercedes,” he says. “It’s giving us more pressure.”

If they want to compete with that class of vehicles, they need to stop using plastic wheel covers, cloth seats, etc, etc on their models. My $0.02

Ha ha ha Hyundai never possess the quality ,engineers and technology of the German cars never never. They create and the rest follow and copy, the lines you are using now is from the ex designer of Audi ,the mirror with led , every body have to say thanks to Mercedes , air bags and so on. So be quite take something for our fever of fame and relax , I think hyundai CEO need an appointment with a psychologist maybe. The day BMW use wings in theirs models the other have to put it on too , that's the way and the power of the Germans cars. Example te new Lexus GS is just a coy of the Mercedes E Class , just look the interior. Now Japanese cars use like mouse in theirs I drive system before the always use a touch screen system. So at the end the copy the Germans, the butt of the 7 series is in all cars now and before people speak crap about the desig A ha.....and now .......so this is a real power of BMW and Mercedes. That's all.

I give Hyundai credit for the level they have reached to become a hard player in the automotive game. It seems though they have gotten a little to ahead of themselves(especially over confident). And think they can play with the luxury giants? Not an easy task...but only time will tell. As for them thinking they are actually done with Toyota/Lexus/Scion? Remember the story of the Turtle and the Rabbit? Toyota can be the turtle and Hyundai can be the rabbit...well we know how that story ends. Either way should be interesting!!!
