Bangle get's back on the drawing board: The next BMW 7-Series

Bangle get's back on the drawing board: The next BMW 7-Series
A subtler appearance but still as complex as a nuclear submarine.

Owners of the next, aesthetically relaxed 7-Series might not have to spend half their time defending their cars' looks, but they'll still be kept busy deciphering the big car's electronic doodads. The future BMW supersedan will include a head-up display, four wheel ajustable air springs, an eye-movement monitor, a lane-departure warning system, and possibly a fission reactor. A hybrid version will also follow later. Expect to see this car on roads by late 2007-early 2008!

Nice, I like the chop. Hopefully Bangle won't screw this one up, just like how he screwed up the rear of the 3 Series sedan!

Looks like a much more palatable front end compared to the last one and is a lot easier on the eye than the new S class.

jfqz - they didn't screw up the tail lights on the e90 3series they're going exactly what they did with the E46... that is the UGLY orange indicators first then the clear ones.

BMW have released factory shadowline rear tailights which are make the back look 10 times better than a factory standard ones which have blackline clear indicator lenses, which are far more asthetically pleasing.

This looks like a PhotoChopped version of a 3 series. Sadly, just about anything is an improvement over today's BMW's "Flame Surface" styling language.

I just learned the the current 5-series body is slated for early retirement in 2009, 3 years before the end of BMW's typical 7 year run. That means that the new 7 and a new 5 will appear at around the same time.

Please BMW, don't mess up again. Make me *want* to do stupid things with my money.

Yes, it is just a P-shop, I expect the redesigned car to look more changed, especially the rear.

Who knew that such an loathed design would change the whole industry. Just look at how many cars are bangelized.

This is good, the older "big booty" 7-series was a mess. When I first layed my eyes on it, I desperately tried to like it, but I couldn't. It had ugly "eyebrows in the front and a big butt". I guess Bangle was only trying to make a statement and be bold, but that was just too much!

The car in the pic is nice. I have always like vehicles that are confidently designed, but not over the top is their efforts. To me to best example of that is the new Acura RL. It is so classy and so humble. But anyway, nice going on the new 7 series.

Is this a new generation? or yet another refresh? I am confused. It looks like the 3-series in some ways but it is nicer than the 2002 7series. The current refreshed design I like as well. Perhaps more than the one in this picture. Nevertheless, I'll have to see in person before I make a judgement.

ajustable air springs - wow why don't they just call it the Audi A8

i guess the 745 and 750 have to be replaced already
call it a 755 so people see a bigger number and want to buy it.

It goes to show you that Bangle know how to design a body style that stands the test of time.

hotdog - Resale values are bad on all 7's, A8, S-line. This type of car has a poor resale value because of the price and the people that buy it want the "latest and greatest"

Is this 7 series going have a new version of iDrive perhaps with the hand motion sensors like shown on the bmwusa.com site and i really hope they use the rolls royce 6.75 V12 cause that would put this car a long way in front especially with styling like that!!!

For those of you who fail to see the genius behind the designs that Chris Bangle has unleashed on us the consumer, you’re only lying to yourself. The automotive world has taken notice, and that’s why almost ever successful manufactured has copied everything from the I-drive to the Bangle Butt. So if you don’t like the BMW onslaught go argue for that second rate Audi you’re driving and get off this forum. The Ultimate Driving Machine makes no apologies for it superiority and overwhelming dominance in the automotive world!! God Bless Chris Bangle and his great designs we are a better world with people like him!!

There is a study that shows people who argue on the side of second rate Audi are "Tool's" and like to call themselves "car guys" when in fact they are "guy-guys!!" Audi suporters are light in the loffers and like french soccer players!! Does the truth hurt ladies, because BMW has Audi drivers wearing dresses standing on street corners!! BMW Rules!!

BMW DESIGNS ARE THE BEST: STRIKING, FUTURISTIC, FASHIONABLE, YOUNG MINDED, SPORTY!

You know, all you people who are complaining about BMW's recent design is just jealous of them! BMW is the no.1 luxury car brand in the world and the 3, 5, 7 sold the most cars in its market segment in 2005 worldwide, beating Merc and Audi BY FAR!

So this simply says it, BMW's design is the way the people want it, togather with reliable first class innovation, quality and character, it can be nothing but the choice of sensible and educated buyers! The new 3 Series design is a work of art, look at the sharp front and muscular side, what car in the world can match that??? It is something potent, first and striking. It stands out from the normal cars like Merc and Audi!

That's why BMW's 3 is World car of the year and top 3 for World car design of the year! If you want to moan, why not try the ugly CLS, look what Sh1t it looks like: ugly headlights with an overcurved shoulderline (looks like it has been crashed from front and rear), ugly rear lights, too! Shame, what a piece of TRASH! The other one is the new S class - headlights so dull and fogged, can't they ever come up with something orginal and exciting?

I suppose because they appeal to the almost dead old population, who still think that Merc is a respected brand! I don't even want to get to the snoek fish degin of the Audi grille and the crying taillights of the A4, the sales show! By the way, why did Merc copy the iDrive, bootlid and interior design of the 7 if it was so ugly to some brainless bigmouths? Bangle is King and he should stay! BMW is not BMW without his works of art! Too bad for those who do not like it, you must then close your eyes, but the majority of thsi world loves it and that's what matters. We cannot help it that you lack taste!
