GENEVA MOTOR SHOW: If You LOVED The 2013 Porsche Boxster Before, Just Wait Until You See It NOW
When we first posted the studio images of the all-new 2013 Porsche Boxster, we didn't think too much about it. I mean, there's no doubt it's a great looking product but we didn't know how much YOU -- our faithful Spies -- would adore it.

Nearly 500,000 clicks later, the gallery continues to grow day-by-day.

At the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, the 2013 Boxster stepped out from behind the curtain for the very first time and my, my. Porsche did something right here. If its looks weren't good enough to persuade you, get this: it turned a lap time of 07:58 around the Nurburgring. Yup, that's fast.

Aside from that, we'd like to hear what are your initial impressions now that you can see it in real-life images...

Discuss!

Minority opinion here (but a 10+ year owner of 2 Boxsters), I can't stand this redesign. This is way off from both the original 550 Spyder and the 1993 concept; frankly it looks inspired by the old Toyota MR2 roadster.

No doubt, it's beautiful, but it is more removed from the original concept.
Also, if placed side by side w/986 or 987, which design would be judged the best by someone unfamiliar with any of them?

Looks like a timeless design to me. I don't know what's changed, nor do I care.

Another hit by Porsche. Stunning! Be hard pressed to buy a 911 base cab over this!

Still recognizably a Boxster. As for changes generally pretty good. The sillouette is it's best angle in my opinion.Fenders are a bit more curvy.Windshield is more racked back. Rear lights and spoiler are interesting. The front head lamps are more angular and yes they do look a little bit like the Toyota MR2 Spyder's. I like the scalloped sides on the doors. Looking forward to the Cayman though. I would probably take this S over a 911 Cabriolet.I'd rather give up 3/10's of a second to 60 MPH and save the 30 grand.Ditto for the Cayman over the 911.

"Fenders are a bit more curvy." Take another look at the photos, compare to this:
http://www.splendidwallpaper.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/porsche_boxster_wallpaper.jpg

They have very nearly been flattened, and just replaced by a crease line to serve as a reminder of what it once was. One of the joys of the driving position of the Boxster is looking out on the high tunnels on each edge of the low hood. Great exotic look, gone now.

t-bone-As you suggested I looked at the photo of the 2009 Boxster. First off that is a front 3/4 view. The front fender in the 2009 is flatter then the 2013. I think you are confusing the new crease line somehow with being less curvy. But if you look at the Sillouette of the 2013 Boxster it has more of fender bulge in the front and rear fender. Also the rear fender ends a bit more abrubtly with a bit more of a Kamm tail effect(very mild). The rear tail lamps appear to be higher up as well. I think if you sat in the 2013 Boxster you would still see those high tunnels abit with a crease now.I would compare both side sillouettes side by side though.

I see what you are saying from a direct side view, but the tunnel effect is definitely flattened.
