GENEVA MOTOR SHOW: If The Next-Gen Mazda 6 Looks THIS Good, Who Will It STEAL Sales From?

GENEVA MOTOR SHOW: If The Next-Gen Mazda 6 Looks THIS Good, Who Will It STEAL Sales From?
Mazda is a tough brand to really pin down because its products are good; however, they don't always tend to resonate with a larger audience.

Take, for example, the Mazda 6. It seems to be overlooked in the mainstream large sedan class as the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, Volkswagen Passat, and Chevrolet Malibu are the big-time volume products.

However, that could change if Mazda takes a much more aggressive action and produces something like the Takeri, seen below.

Seen with its large-faced grille and sleek styling, there's no question that this everyday sedan looks as good as BMW's 6-Series Gran Coupe or Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class. This concept's styling is on THAT level. Now, the real question is:

How much of this will translate into a fully fledged production unit and if MOST of it does, who will be hurt by this product the most? Toyota, Hyundai, Honda, Volkswagen, Chevrolet?

Looks like a 4-door Hyundai Genesis Coupe.

Agreed. If priced right, it'll take sales away from Hyundai..

Agreed that the front and rear ends look inspired by Hyundai's styling language.

It already stole the Hyundai Sonata's rear end.

This looks beautiful, I'm ready to buy one! Also It's really funny when people say they stole a look from Hyundai or Kia, Their entire lineup is stolen from other brands. Since Mercedes changed the look of the CLS everyone forgot how Hyundai stole their design. Now it's Hyundai design What a joke.

Call me crazy, but it's evocative of the Fisker Karma. A testament to the highly evolve level of design prevalent in the industry in general, without bias towards one manufacturer or another. Whether or not it will steal sales specifically can't be answered, but design-wise, the consumer wins.

If you all remember, the CX-5 concept was sporty and edgy but the production version ended up being watered down, boring, and even frumpy. I think the same will happen with this concept.

Design wise, I think the rear of the next gen. 6 will end up looking a lot like the Sonata's.

I love how you mention all these other midsize family sedans as "big volume products" yet you left out the Number 2 selling midsize sedan in the class....the Nissan Altima...it is almost neck and neck with the Camry this year so far in sales...and while the Passat sales better than the Mazda6, it is by no means a "big volume product" next to Camry, Altima, Malibu and Fusion its sales aren't much better than the Mazda6.

I see a scant evolution of the same Mazda 6 on the showrooms today. And that model hasn't stolen sales from anyone.
