Consumers Demanding Lower Gas Prices Rather Than Short Term Incentives On Vehicles
Consumers fretting about soaring gasoline prices say President Obama and Congress must act to keep them from rising further, a Gallup Poll finds.

An overwhelming number of consumers — 85% — say Obama and Congress should take "immediate" action to keep a lid on prices. After nearly four weeks of daily price increases, regular gasoline averages $3.76 a gallon nationwide.

Industry analysts still expect a $4 top by Memorial Day, although prices could rise to $5 a gallon if escalating tensions in the Middle East disrupt crude oil shipments. At $5, about 30% of those surveyed by Gallup say they would have to make major changes in their lives and significant cutbacks in spending. About 28% say $4 gas would prompt similar changes.

- Yes it does. Just proves that they don't even know what the word "Socialist" means. All they do is repeat crap that they hear on TV.

Consumer report can be an ass sometime, but i completely agree with them on this.
Instead of indirectly investing on the failed volt and its future, they should focus more on the current situations and gas prices

Dude, did you even read the article....this has nothing to do with consumer reports. And what pray tell, do you suggest that the Government do to lower gas prices?

FYI IF gas prices go down.....consumption goes up....which raises demand...I think you know what happens next.

There is very little the president and congress can do to control gas prices. He could release some the crude from the emergancy oil reserve. However the point of that is if the US ever has a shortage. Another point Obama is not against the Keystone Pipeline. Rather he is against where part of is going to travel through in some states. He has no problem with most of the southern part of the pipeline.Prices go up on speculation and a weaker dollar as well. Also another factor is China's economy has also pushed oil prices up.Gingrich's boast of $2.50 a gallon for gas is a total pipe-dream so conservatives will vote for him. But here is another point. If people don't want to have huge gas expenses they have a choice of buying a more fuel efficient cars today or not. There are plenty of vehicles out there that get over 30 MPG on the highway today and some that can get 40 mpg. Further the price of some hybrids have dropped to right around 20 grand.Don't look to the government to help you. Help yourself. Isn't that the Tea Party philosophy?

The American dream is dead. One day people with Masters and PHDs are going to be struggling from pay check to pay check because of inflation (or should I say "greed"). Watch my word. One day inflation will be so high, billions of dollars won't even cut it. Watch my word.
