Magazine CONFIRMS What WE Told You MONTHS Ago About The New 3-Series. "There IS No Competition"

Magazine CONFIRMS What WE Told You MONTHS Ago About The New 3-Series.
Back in November 2011, Agent 001 reported from the all new 3-Series launch in Barcelona that it was groundbreaking, the best 3 yet, had the best of breed interior, best gas mileage, the competition was checkmated again and if you're buying one, buy the 328i not the 335.

Many of you as well as the hundreds of thousands on YouTube that watched our review were suspect.

AutoSpies.com recommending a FOUR OVER the 335?

Well, albeit late, Motor Trend has confirmed what we told you MONTHS ago.

In this segment right now there IS no competition that can go against it with a chance of winning.

The new 4 mated with 8-Speed auto and stop start tech send everyone back tot he drawing board.

Here's a quote from their article:

"We just ran an 8-car comparison test of entry-level sport sedans and the big winner was the all-new BMW 3 Series. Specifically, the 328i. As if the BMW 328i besting all the actual competition wasn’t enough, we discovered another feather for its burgeoning cap: The 328i is a better car than its sibling, the more powerful, more expensive 2012 BMW 335i."

Some interesting tidbits in the article are that VOLVO came in second out of eight and Buick regal GS was DEAD last.

Also, if you haven't seen it, here is our review from Barcelona now with close to 250,000 views!:

Let me be the first to say I AM A Toyota/Lexus Fanboy.....AND I've never been head over heels for BMW, but.....Thats a beautiful automobile.

Different strokes for different folks, BD. Some people love Audi, Lexus, Mazda, etc. Enjoy your ride BD. I seen the new 3 series on the freeway and thought it was a 5 series. The new GS also fooled me. It looks like a big IS. It is what it is.

this sums it up...

"This is not just a win for the 328i; it's a massacre. A slaughter. Doomsday. Armageddon. I say this with a straight face: There is no competition. Not only was the BMW's first-place finish never in question, but I can't remember a comparison test with such lopsided results."

end. of. story.

Again, the beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, Performance wise the 3 is predictable superior cause lighter than the rest. But the design is ugly, for me the C is superior in design , in and out. A4, is same history, more elegant than the 3. But the important part here is not what I like , if not how the car will sale, but the time will answer that question. Previous 3 have a better exterior than the new one.

no, not really in the eye of the beholder. compare to all competitors, the 328i is/has:

1. fastest
2. best handling
3. best ride
4. best braking
5. best transmission
6. best ergonomics
7. best gas mileage
8. largest backseat

and, in the opinion of many

9. the best design

3 is not only better in performance, its better in every aspect according to many comparison tests I have seen. C and A4 are both good looking, but even after major facelift, their design still already to show their age and now they both look a bit boring.

Now if you would have said in its class then yes this car sets the bar pretty high. However to put things into perspective from my point of view I would price this car in the 35K range fully loaded for it to be a total success. Yes this is a beautiful car' even though I like the outgoing version better there are so many things I don’t like about this new model that cheapen it for me. I am not liking the new front end or rear as much as the outgoing model. I still think the interior is a bit of a mess; I see a ton of plastics here and the interior says I am trying to be cool but I am cheap...

This is a small car, period... It is expected to get great gas mileage!
If the price was right for this car I might give it glowing reviews too but typical to BMW that isn't the case here; way over priced for what you get.
Where BMW wins is pure styling and performance; you pay a hefty premium for arguably the best looking car on the road. Sorry but my ego doesn't need that...

Baby,

In the article they said you could option the 328 to cost abotu 43K and I would have been just as good, and still would have been the clear winner.. Just b/c the test car wast optioned out to the max does not mean they all cost 50K.

Also The 3 did have the best blend or ride, space, comfort, gas milage, and performance. read the article.

I don't necessarily like the front end that much but to be honest, doesn't sound bad for a 4 cylinder.

the EPA figures are supposed to indicate results from "typical driving". The MotorTrend figures were from performance testing. Notice how ALL the cars were in the teens? Not just the BMW? That's what happens when you report economy results after driving with your foot to the floor the entire time. Unless you're saying the EPA should be investigating every car in the test? I assume you're not, because that would be stupid, and any rational person can immediately understand how they obtained the results.

if you actually read the article, you would know that the 328i test car was LOADED. and they said you could get the identical mechanical car for $43k. and would have one the comparison test just the same.

so you're more concerned about image that actual performance? or comfort? or ride?

In regards to the observed fuel economy, these cars were FLOGGED. It's all about how you drive. What I like about the 328i is, put it in sport mode, drive it like you stole it, and you'll have a ton of fun.

However, put it in Eco mode, drive it conservatively, and with the start/stop function for around town, you'll get gas mileage on a par with a Golf TDI.

I have taken two extended test drives in a 328i, and around town I was getting high 20's, and it was too cold for the start/stop to kick in. That should add about another 1 MPG city.

Yes you could have but the object of this comparisons were base engines, thats why they have the is250, G25 base T5 etc. cars like the Regal GS were an exception, and it still got the worse fuel economy and was one of the slowest despite having a 2.0 turbo and FWD. they Regal had to come in GS form to be considered and entry level sports sedan.

Honestly, I could care less who wins this comparison. Magazines have their biases like everyone else.

There's a car here for everyone.

The BMW 3 series has never appealed to me, especially after owning one. I used to have an E36 328i and while it was a great car and drove well, it was short on space and the ride was very harsh. The A4 and C class are much more balanced for everyday driving meaning they offer a nicer blend between comfort and capable handling. I don't need the razor sharp driving experience of the 3 series.

In the absence of actually driving the cars yourself, you probably should read the article and check out what they said about the ride. Your experience with a car 20 years ago is not necessarily representative of today.

then you might want to read the article. bmw rides better and is more spacious than the competitors. it does EVERYTHING better than the competitors. so if comfort and ride matters, don't buy the C or A4.

I just got a new 2012 BMW 328i and I have to say I am in love with this car.... Superb all around. I upgraded from a 2004 330i and the jump in technology, size and overall driving experience is HUGE. Proud and excited to own this awesome car...
