VIDEO: Top Gear Reviews The All-New BMW M5, And It Sounds Like The Big, Bad Boss Is Back In Town
Well, I can't give it all away in the introduction, can I?

I will start off with this, though. If you were hoping for a Jeremy Clarkson "PoweRRRRRRrrr" review, you'll be pretty disappointed because it was Richard Hammond's turn this time around.

But if you're a BMW fan, you're going to walk away happy as can be. That's because Hammond declares the new M5 "...the best car in the world right now," then goes on to compare it to the M car that started it all. The M1.

It sounds completely bonkers, doesn't it? However, Hammond makes some very intriguing points. Take, for example, how he says it can "smoke all day long," but actually rides better than a regular 5-Series.

It sounds like two face is alive and well.

Here's the problem though. For every person who will praise this vehicle, there will be one to downplay it.

Does Top Gear's review of the all-new F10 M5 make YOU want one, or are you less-than-enthused?

Why no Stig's lap?

According to Clarkson, it was incredibly wet outside and was "meaningless."

In the very wet conditions I believe he said it did a 1:29:00.

I'd love to see the laptime in dry condition. 1:29 is way too slow.

Motor Trend just got their hands on the new M5 and recorded some impressive numbers out of it. They were also able to compare them to the Panamera Turbo/turbo s.

"We recorded a 0-60-mph time for the previous M5 at 4.1 seconds with a quarter-mile time of 12.5 seconds at 115.3 mph. Those seem like fast numbers until you consider the newer car runs to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and gets through the quarter in 11.9 seconds at 120.3 mph.

For comparison's sake, a Porsche Panamera Turbo we tested recently performed these same feats of strength in 3.5 seconds to 60 mph and 11.9 seconds at 114.7 mph through the quarter mile. But all-wheel drive is clearly a big advantage for the Porsche, and its extra 68 lb-ft of torque help the 102-pound-heavier Panamera get out of the hole.

Once the M5's speeds start to rise, the turbos spool and traction becomes less of an issue. The BMW gets from 0 to 100 mph in 8.4 seconds, while it takes the Porsche 8.8 seconds. The disparity in speed at the end of the quarter mile leads us to believe the M5 would keep pulling away at the high end. The Porsche makes a peak 500 hp, while the BMW cranks out a blistering 560 hp. We have tested a Panamera Turbo S rated at 550 hp that bridges the matches the M5's 0-100-mph time, but still lags behind the M5's trap speed, coming in at 118.0 mph. It would seem the BMW is either producing a little more power than rated, or more of it is getting to the ground through two wheels once it's securely hooked up."

I drove the E60 M5 for 3.5 yrs and put 50K on it and I'd get this new iteration in a heartbeat.....if the GT-R didn't exist. Sorry, the M5 has and always will be a great, great car, but Godzilla has truly redefined what it means to have an everyday supercar.

Saw the first M5 hand produced on introductory tour (gorgeous The M5 was finished off in a new Monte Carlo blue (B05.

The engine is an imposing masterpiece with the twin chargers mounted up front. The engine bay is 99.5% packed with engine. Simply amazing piece of plumbing and engineering work. In person, it looks like an enlarged version of the M3 with 4 doors. The BMW rep said it would sell for roughly $90K, which includes the 552 horses. Be sure to have lots of hay.
