Head's Up: Subaru To Build The BRZ In Small Volumes - Run, Not Walk, To Your Nearest Dealer
According to a report from one of the industry's biggest publications, you should RUN to you closest Subaru dealer if you've had your heart set on the Subaru BRZ rear-wheel drive coupe.

That's because Subaru only plans on bringing 6,000 BRZs to the U.S. for 2013.

You also have to consider that Subaru is a low volume manufacturer. For them, that is likely the optimal number to turn a profit on the BRZ. And, given my previous experience(s) with Subaru, it's not the easiest manufacturer to deal with if you want a specific combination for your vehicle.

Take, for instance, my friend who I've known essentially since the crib. He only wanted a black 2011 WRX hatchback -- he couldn't resist the widebody and quad-tipped exhaust. This good friend walked into the dealer in September, forked over some cash and waited. Until February.

Since taking delivery in 2011 he's been as happy as a pig in slop; however, the waiting period was BRUTAL. That being said, get to your local dealer and find out how you can get one of 6,000 for a 2013 model year BRZ if you're interested.

If you can't get one I guess the worst case scenario is you can walk on over to the local Scion dealer and pop into one of its FRS'.

Driving purists of America, act fast: It seems just 6000 Subaru BRZ sports cars will be allocated to the U.S. for the 2013 model year. The specific number comes to us from a Subaru dealer; the automaker’s consumer web site merely states that the rear-drive-only BRZ will be built in “extremely limited quantities.”

Ok seriously now? I loved, and couldnt wait for the FRS/BRZ. But every time they come up with news about them, its always something discouraging. First was the scion badge (thats an AE86 was toyota and old celica issue, not important). The important part is the power, 200hp, then they said that it was going to be priced at 25k and then now they say subaru will only produce 6000 for the US? I feel that there will be a mark up on the mark up for the brz. I do not have a problem with the power because I understand what this car wants to achieve but, when it comes to 25k msrp for 200hp? then it is safe to say that there will be many alternatives to this car, including subarus own wrx ( if sporty rear wheel drive is needed then a miata will do)
